Not really taking bottles

So, I am so confused on the one year old transition to milk and solids.  DS is 10 and a half mo old and is starting to really slow down on his bottles.  About a month ago, he dropped his bottle before bed going from 40 oz to 32 oz (5 to 4 bottles).  Now, I have to coax him to take a bottle.  The past couple of days, he has only had 3 bottles a day and each of these bottles can take about an hour to eat.  He has no problems eating his solids though.  Is DS just getting ready to eat more solids?  Is this normal?

DS eats 3 meals and normally one snack a day.  Plus his bottles.

Re: Not really taking bottles

  • I would check and see if he has any teeth about to pop through.  DD has been a pain in the butt about taking a bottle the last week or so and then 2 days ago she had a tooth pop through and she has another on the brink of popping through.  Otherwise 32 oz is a perfectly reasonable amount for him to be drinking.

  • What about a sippy? If he will do a sippy maybe now would be the time to transition over.
