DD turned 1 on 8/9/12, we ended up cosleeping by necessity, she has never been a good sleeper - nighttime or naptime. Recently it has gotten worse, she wakes up about 4 - 6 times a night, sometimes to nurse and sometimes for me just to hold her while she sleeps. She is exhausted during the day, she is teething and I give her meds before bed to help but I don't think it is the teething keeping her, she just seems restless.
I try to get her to be as physical as possible to get out her energy but it doesn't seem to help or matter. We have a bedtime schedule that rarely changes. Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Sleep Advice Needed
Is it possible that she is over stimulated? Sometimes my DD gets tired but just can't settle down I have reverted back to swaddling her. She is only 6 months though, I can't imagine trying to swaddle a 1 yo? But maybe there is a way to hold her tightly so that her nervous system has to respond to that rather than pick u pon everything else going on???
Also, when she is asleep but waking would it be helpful to use white noise? I know that I have super sonic hearing- like I can hear my dogs toenails on the tile over my TV and fan!!! I have to have the whole house fan on in order to not hear EVERYTHING in my house.

Ditto on the white noise suggestion - Eleanor definitely sleeps much better with it! Have you tried an earlier bedtime? Both of my kids fight sleep and sleep worse when they are overtired - maybe that's what's going on?
If you think it's teething, does it help to do the teething tablets or even motrin? Teething will definitely make for restless sleep.
Is she learning anything new right now (is she walking or has she been for a while?). Milestones will also disrupt sleep.
