August 2012 Moms

Going to blow my brains out...

if this child does not stop crying. He's tired, but won't stay asleep. He's clean, fed, being held...I don't get it. He did this all morning too. I'm ready to commit myself into an institution. I finally just sat him down in his bouncer and hopefully he wears himself out.
Sometimes I think I wasn't cut out for motherhood. I just don't feel like I can handle this sometimes.
Of course, my SO wakes up and is able to rock DS right to sleep...which makes me feel like a bad mother.

  • Hang in there mama, It'll seem rough at times but it's all gonna be worth it.  He'll get his schedule all worked out soon :)

  • It's ok. Putting him down at times like that are best for you. As long as what you mentioned is done he'll survive sitting in the bouncer. Take a deep breath. You're doing well. Call the pedi just to make sure he doesn't have like reflex or something else. Yay know?

  • I'm a FTM (and still pregnant!) so I have no solid advice, but I watched a DVD called "Happiest Baby on the Block" and it had some good tips on soothing newborn babies when they won't stop crying. Couldn't tell ya from experience whether or not they work, but I will definitely going to try once my LO is born. Might be worth a shot?? I'm sorry you're frustrated, hang in there!!!

I too watched that DVD. It gave me reassurance that I was doing what I should be to soothe DD and also gave me some tips.
You are not a bad momma. You are doing your best. Hang in there!

  • You will get through this!! Take a deep breath, and it's totally normal for you to feel this way. It'll get better :)
  • My DH can put baby down easily. Im pretty sure it's because they smell our milk so they want us.

  • I used to write stuff like this in my journal when my daughter was little, so believe me you are not alone! Setting down the baby and taking a break is a good idea. The other things I would do are: drinking a glass of wine, using ear plugs to muffle the sound a little bit (but you can obviously still hear for safety's sake), or calling my sister and begging her to relieve me for an hour. Good luck! (But makes me scared to have my baby now...)
