Re: Walking

  • L loves to walk with his toy push walker and will walk holding on to something. L has taken 3steps on his own but no walking just yet and in no rush.

  • Our LO started walking this past week.  He'd been clinging on to furniture and walking around for the past few months, but never really walking on his own.  Then last week DC said he took a few steps.  Then the next day DH went to pick him up from DC and he took about 15 steps.

Now at home he wants to walk and crawls a lot less.  So to sum it up in the span of 1 week he learned to walk...crazy!!!  I was not ready for that.  I figured it would take a while.  I've always heard that boys tend to learn to walk a few months after their first bdays so I was pretty shocked at how quick it's all happened.

  • My girls aren't walking yet. one will take a couple of steps, and both cruise and love the push walker etc. We were recently released from PT, and she said kids aren't delayed in walking until 16 mo adjusted.
  • Logan isnt walking yet but has taken a few steps.  He cruises and will lean on things.  He stands on his own for a minute or so but then plops down and just crawls.  He is 13 months old (adjusted age is 11 months).

He loves climbing though, he has done the full flight of stairs and has made it on his own up on the couch.

  • Alex is walking more now and that started in the last couple weeks.

I was worried at first because my friend's DD was walking like crazy by the time she was 1 and Alex showed no signs until about 2 weeks before his birthday I got to see him take steps. He isn't walking far and wants help 75% of the time.

It will happen so don't worry :-)

  • My DD didn't start walking until 14 months.  She was just such a speedy crawler it wasn't worth it to take steps when it was a much less efficient way of getting from point A to B.  I bet there are a lot of babies who still aren't walking yet.

  • DS started walking at 10 months.  If he is getting nerve to take those first few steps then thats great! You'll have a walker in no time! When I noticed Logan doing that, I would hold my hand out for him to grab just to get use to letting go of the couch... then as he got more comfortable, I would move my hand slowly out of his reach.  It made him take steps while thinking he was going to be supported any second.  You can give that a try!  But I wouldn't worry just yet if he isn't walking... my cousin's DD didn't walk until 14 months.

  • Ds started to walk at 10 months... he is all over the place. If he is standing and taking steps... a walker in the making. I say when they are ready they are ready and it will happen. Enjoy the sit down time :)

  • DS just turned one and isn't walking yet. He cruises along furniture and the walls but crawls super fast. He will only stand without support for a few seconds. He's trying really hard so I'm not worried.
  • Josh started walking at 11 months.  Mind you, he never had any intensions of crawing and learned how to do that after he started walking for a week on his own.  I think maybe as long as they are able to be mobile whether it be rolling, crawling, scouting, they continue to do that and don't worry so much on walking since they are already able to get around.

  • My son is 2 years 8 months and he started walking the day after his 1st birth day. I was one of those moms who pushed for him to do everything so early now i am regretting that do not worry he will do it when he wants too.

  • He has stood on his own maybe 3 times, has taken a *single* step a couple times...he's really not close to walking.

Unless he's in water.  He feels all buoyant and supported in the water so if he's standing in water up to his chest, he'll just take off running until he's submerged, heh.

But yeah, I think it'll be another month or more before he's really taking several steps in a row.  He LOVES to walk while holding my hand though...I love it too <3
