Swollen Vagina and now......

a freaking yeast infection on top of that.  Any suggestions as to ease the itching?  By the end of the day I could just scratch all night long.  Sexy eh ;)  I was prescribed a one time oral pill ( that is safe during pregnancy I even asked the pharmacist)  but until that kicks in what am I to do?

Thanks ladies

  • I would check with the pharmacist to see if it's pregnancy safe, but you can try Vagisil or another anti-itch cream.

Sorry - yeast infections are the worst.

Yep, I had my first (and so far only) YI when I was pg with the twins.  The 7 day treatments are safe during pg.

  • Buy monistat or something similar.  I believe it is safe during pregnancy...but ask the pharmacist to make sure.

Second...use plain unsweetened unflavored yogurt.  You can actually put it down there and inside and it is safe and it helps a lot.  I always take a multi approach to yeast infections and they clear up.

Really wow that sounds interesting but totally worth trying.  Thanks to all of you.

  • An oatmeal bath also will work wonders.  You can just pour some oatmeal in a warm bath or use Aveeno bath stuff.

  • The pill works pretty quickly too so if you don't feel better in a day or so - call the Dr back.  I had one when I was 33 weeks pregnant...it was no fun. Hope you are feeling better soon.

  • I took Diflucan before I got PG and it never did anything for me, I always had to use Monistat 7. See if you can pick up a tube of the Monistat anti-itch cream and use that. Hope you're feeling better soon!
