Preeclampsia?

Has anyone suffered from preeclampsia? What were the symptoms? I am rapidly gaining weight - another 4lbs in 4 days - and am completely, ridiculously swollen but my blood pressure continues to be stable. My doc keeps asking me about headaches and such, but other than feeling just horrible, I am healthy. I now have to see him twice a week to monitor this.

Re: Preeclampsia?

  • I had preeclampsia at the end of my pregnancy starting at 34 weeks. I was swollen and had gained alot of weight rapidly. When I went in for my regular weekly visit my BP was elevated and they found alot of protein in my urine. I was then sent to the hospital, put on bedrest there for a week till I delivered at 35 weeks, this was in May of this year.

  • I had it and my symptoms were just like yours for awhile with no headaches. They didnt test me for it until my bp was high. By that time it was too late and I had to deliver that day at 33 weeks. I really regret not pushing to have the test done sooner although my ob said it wouldn't have shown up until I had high bp. At my previous appointment a week before it was fine. I regret not taking it easier too. With that said your symptoms can be normal pregnancy things as well which is hopefully the case. I also learned that there were other symptoms that i had like like a pain in my right side that they never questioned me about it. I thought it was a cyst since i am always getting them on that side but it wasn't Go with ypur gut and don't be afraid to be a pain in the butt about it to your ob. Gl

  • I developed HELLP syndrome at 35 weeks which is a variation of preeclampsia. My legs/feet were really swollen for weeks but my blood pressure was normal. I had a really bad headache on a Monday night when I was just over 35 weeks. I saw my doctor that Wednesday and my blood pressure was slightly elevated for me, but not preeclampsia levels. She decided to do a blood draw as a baseline for my next appointment. I got a call from my OB Thursday afternoon telling me to come to the hospital immediately as my liver enzymes were elevated and my platelets were low. I was shocked as I had felt better on Thursday then I had all week. My OB was even surprised by the results. I was googling HELLP syndrome on the way to the hospital because I had never heard of it before. I had a c-section the next morning at 36 weeks and both babies were healthy.

    Good luck!
