How much are you stocking up on diapers?

I have maybe 3-4 packs of diapers and a ton of wipes and butt paste. I know some babies do better with one brand over another - so I have hesitated in bulk buying the diapers for now. Now I am starting to doubt myself.

 What is your philosophy?

What are your thoughts on brands?

Pearls of wisdom???

Re: How much are you stocking up on diapers?

  • I'm using cloth diapers for this baby and my one year old- so those are what I am stocking up on presently.  But for my two oldest I used disposables and the best advice I can give is to not stock up, but rather set the money aside and buy them as you need them.  First reason being the sizing.   Second being the baby's reaction to the particular brands.  Pampers work pretty well to where most hospitals prefer to use them, so that would be the only one I would attempt to take a chance at stocking up on.  But still, you have the sizing thing to deal with.  Its a good idea, but tape your receipts to your boxes if you do it.  GL!

  • I have done a bit of stocking up based on what I learned from DD. I will try do what I did for DD. I like Pampers Swaddlers at first (like NB and 1), just because they are soft.  Then I get cheap and go for the Target diapers.  I found they worked better for DD than Pampers, Huggies, or Luvs, as far as preventing blow outs.

  • I'm not stocking up at all.  We've got one box of NB.  We stocked up with #1 and he ended up getting rashy pretty frequently, so we only used the all-natural cotton Huggies and had to exchange the rest.  Definitely don't stock up on NB, my babies have never used those for very long and 1-2 boxes was more than enough before we bumped up to size 1.

I figure, it's not like we're not going to be going to the store when the baby comes.  After DD was born I couldn't wait to have an excuse to go stroll around Target.

  • I haven't stocked up very much just because I don't want to end up with a bunch of diapers I can't use. This is what I have on hand now (all of the diapers I have are Pampers Swaddlers because that's what was given to me and what I had coupons for)

1 box (88 count) of Newborn
1 box and a few small packages of 1's (200 count)
    1 box of 2's (150 count)

Wipes - I have to 2 big boxes of Target Brand and some small containers of Pampers and Huggies that were gifts.

  • FTM and we are doing disposable!
We are all stocked up! I have found that Pampers are amazing! My theory is you can always return unopened packs!!

    3 packs of NB
2 packs if 1s all my diaper cakes were ones using those first
    3 huge boxes of 2s

I'm really hoping that we don't have to buy to many more than that!!!
  • I have quite a stash in a variety of brands/sizes. I really had no preference with DD, and hopefully it will work out that way for this LO too. If not, I know that I can exchange anything unopened for a different size/type/brand, so it's not a big deal. I've found a lot of sales/coupon deals so I've stocked up on whatever I could get.

  • We have a pretty large stockpile in all different sizes. I had a diaper raffle at both my showers, so that helped. I am not worried about having two many of the wrong size because they are really easy to exchange.

  • We have two small sleeves of NB, and will buy a case of 1's when he's done with the NB.  We have 2's & 3's left over from DS so we'll go through those before we buy more.

My MIL bought a small sleeve of #2's she found on clearance for $5 - but we already know we like Pampers.  Hopefully this LO agrees with them...otherwise we're going to have a lot of diapers on our hands.

  • we aren't "stocking up" per se. we were gifted several varieties in newborn and 1s, and so we will be using those and seeing how her skin reacts. we also were given a lot of wipes, so again, we'll use those and see how she does.

But I have been buying wipes and pampers since i was about 3 months! we should be set for a while unless LO decides she needs a diffrent brand

  • I'm not stocking up.  I bought 1 package of newborn (I remember bringing a ton of newborn diapers home from the hospital with DD, like almost an entire package).  I can't remember how long DD stayed in newborn, but if this baby is as big as they think he is I don't think he'll be in newborns for very long.  I bought pampers swaddlers, which is what our hospital used.  I'm debating sticking with pampers for size 1 and then switching to target brand for size 2, or just going to the target brand at size 1.  We used them with DD and really liked them, but for some reason I think the pampers would be better when he's tiny.  We also have random packages of 2, 3 and 4 left over from DD.

As for wipes, right now I have 2 small packages, but I'll go pick up a box this weekend probably, just to have on hand.  We go through a lot because we use them for everything.  lol

I'm not stocking up. I have one NB pack of Pampers Sensitive left over from DS. I have 1 NB packs of Honest and 2 size 1 packs. We use Honest for DS so as long as they work for this baby, I will order a box to be delivered with my early Oct shipment. I get a box delivered around the 10th of every month. It is auto paid and auto shipped. I only have to go to the site to adjust the size when DS is ready to go up.

Also this. DS was born on a Friday and I was at Target Wed or Thursday just to get out and walk around.

  • I don't usually stock up on diapers, when I am almost done with a box for my girls I order another one on Amazon Mom and it usually arrives within a day or two, that way I can assess the need for a different size without wasting a whole box of diapers. I plan on doing the same with baby, probably within the week he's born I'll order a box of newborn from Amazon and go from there, they seem to move up to size 1 fairly quickly. I have a couple of small packages of pampers just in case he surprises us, but you can also stash a bunch of diapers at the hospital too.

My favorite brand is Pampers, I've tried a number of different kinds and these are my favorite. The only brand I'd say steer well clear of it would be the Parent's Choice diapers, omg those things were horrible.

  • We use Pampers. We don't really stock up - maybe 2 boxes stored away at a time, at the most.

Once LO starts STTN, we use Pampers Extra Protection in 1 size up.
