2nd Trimester

XP: Could be crazy, BUT...

I've been having a strange new feeling the past few days want your opinions on what it could be.

Occasionally very low on my abdomen about 3in below my belly button, I get this feeling like getting poked with one finger, or almost like a muscle twitch. It is very quick has only happened once or twice a day but feels different from the gas pains and RLP I have experienced.

I feel like its too early for it to be the baby, as I am just shy of 15wks... but could it be? It is a very distinct feeling. If not, what IS it??

  • I think you are feeling the baby.

I started feeling the same thing late in my 15th week (at least, that's when I first noticed).  Now I'm at 17 weeks and I have been paying a lot of attention to this pretty distinct feeling that is different than gas and other digestive bumps.

More than likely it's not a finger though, that probably wouldn't do it.  At my 12 wk ultrasound, my baby was kicking rather spastically and I think that is the movement we are probably feeling.  You will feel it especially if your baby is hanging out down low near the pubic bone, but I've felt it a little higher as well.  I told my doc and she said it's early but not unheard of.  Cool, eh?

  • Well I described the movement I was feeling like I was being flicked so I can see finger poking. I felt movement for a while before I was sure that that's what it was. I think I was around 15/16 weeks when I started feeling things that made me think it was wasn't gas or muscle spasms. I can definitely feel them now even on the outside and I've been feeling it for about a month-ish so it's not crazy. It's not like you're 10 weeks or something.

  • I felt little ripples and pops starting around then with DD... I didn't really think much of it at first either, but the feelings became more and more consistent, and definitely not gas-related.  Depending on how baby is positioned in there, it's not impossible.

Yeah, I thought they felt like flicks but I know they have to be feet or hands or elbows. I tend to feel it more higher up towards my belly button and my SO can feel it better higher up too.

  • could be baby...espically if you are feeling it that low and its sporadic and not brought on by something. Those first few movements feel almost like a muscle twitch or little "pops" as if popcorn was going off in that area. IF thats what it feels like, its most likely baby. Ive noticed my LO moves at around the same times each day, so stay aware at that time tomorrow and see what happens!

  • Moonglow: You made me giggle! I know it isn't the BABY'S finger, but it does kinda feel like an adult finger poking me.

As PPs have mentioned, maybe a "flicking" feeling is more accurate. All I know is that it is totally different, weird, and I was terrified of being flamed for losing my mind!! Lol thank you ladies for your kind responses: how cool to think it really is the LO in there!

Mine too, I can always count on kicks around 11 or 12 pm.

  • It's early but not TOO early!  Sounds like what feeling the baby feels like...
