Sonoline B Fetal Doppler Tips?

Does anyone have the Sonoline B Fetal Doppler that can give me some tips?  I have only ever found the heartbeat once, every other time I keep picking up my own.  I am almost 14 weeks, so I know the baby is still pretty low.  Should the baby be more centered?  Or if he/she moves to either side how far over do you think is the most I should be looking?  I thought I had read that orange juice makes the baby move around more, which is why I avoided it before my NT scan last week, should I try drinking some OJ before I try again?  Also, do you recommend a full or empty bladder?  I try not to freak out when I can't find it, but it's hard not to... any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Sonoline B Fetal Doppler Tips?

  • Start at the midline of your belly between your belly button and pubic bone. Rotate the Doppler in little tiny circles. Look left and right a few inches. I had to watch a YouTube video before I could find our heartbeat. Also, make sure the little number next to the heart says 1. I tried using mine and it was on mode 3 so it didn't read out the heartbeat count. Good luck!

  • I usually find my baby very low (like, directly above my pubic bone low - nowhere near belly button) and towards the left side.  Before I knew she hung out on the left a lot, I would stay right above the pubic bone and move slowly from side to side.

  • Thank you both so much! I tried again and found it, yay!! Baby was very low and slightly to the left, it took about 10 minutes but I am so excited I tried again! Thank you for your advice :-D
