So, from my previous posts, things were really looking up for us. But things took a turn for the worst.
Our first match is turning out to have a ton of drama and she is now asking to move in with us! I still don't think it's fraud, but there is no way we can allow something like that, especially since she's only 7.5 weeks pregnant. I think we have to cut ties with this one, but I do feel bad that she's in a tough situation. I've sent her some links to shelters in her area, but so far she doesn't seem to think any will work for her.
Our second possible match won't even call us back. It's only been 4 days, but we've been through a lot in those 4 days. I'm already for this journey to be over!
Re: They weren't kidding when they said adoption is a roller coaster
The crazy thing is, I live in NC and she lives in AZ..but I did some research and sent her some shelters/centers in her area for pregnant women.
You are right... it is a journey unlike any others...
Are you connecting/meeting others that are working independently? I say this because they be able to put a spin on what you can expect. From a more traditional perspective, it's so rare to have two woman want to match you immediately.... and then have it all fall apart... but perhaps this will be your norm... lots of warm leads that come and go until the perfect match sticks?? I am not sure but may be helpful to understand what most other couples go through when they put their site live, etc.
Hang in there
I have some good friends that will be activating their profile soon so I should see how their experience is soon. From what I've read, most people do not get this many hits so fast, but I think our age and the fact that we don't have children already somewhat sets us apart. It seems to fit into what a lot BPs are looking for.
Thanks for all your support everyone! Even tho the first one fell through and the second one might be nothing, it is good to know that we do have activity on our profile.
Hi Crene,
We have a lot of similarities! Both from NC (not sure why my profile says upstate NY, not sure how to change it haha), and both married in 9/06. And both early on in the adoption process too. Good luck!
Since you are having lots of hits, do you mind if I ask where are you are 'advertising'? Are you going through an agency? We are doing independent adoption, so always looking to hear where people are having success
Thanks!
Jenny
