DH and I will find out the sex eventually, but trying to get down to a shortlist of names since we're competing for names with my sister and SIL who are all expecting around the same time.
Girl:
1 - Lucy Elizabeth (no nickname should be needed, but Ellie is possible)
2 - Charlotte Jane (NN Charlie, CJ)
3 - Amelia Jean (NN AJ)
Boy:
1 - John David (NN JD)
2 - Arthur John (NN AJ)
3 - Arther David (NN Addie)
Re: Down to a really short list... what do you think...
Not planning to force NN, kids will be called what they will be called... and especially with Lucy, we do not think a NN will be necessary. Ellie is actually my DH's suggestiong for a NN, as her initials would be L-E. Since we have a niece Ella, its VERY unlikely we'd use the NN. Plus - DH and I are SO in LOVE with Lucy right now.
Love all your girl names!! If I were you, I would never call her by her initials because all those names are too pretty to not use daily
Arthur is nms, but they are both classic names you can't go wrong with.
Lucy (NOT Ellie).
Arthur John/AJ
(read it. you know you want to.)

Love Amelia Jean. Like Charlotte Jane. Lucy Elizabeth is ok (I don't really care for the name Lucy. There is nothing wrong with it I just don't like it)
Love Arthur John. Like John David. Why are you spelling it Arther? It looks like a typo. Otherwise, Arthur David is a fine name.
Also, I really dislike NNs that are initials. That's just me though.
Frankly all the nicknames make my head hurt. What's wrong with just calling a kid by his name? And "Addie" for a boy?? Yikes.
I'd go number one on both list, with NO nicknames.
Just a typo.
Also, inital NN run in my DH's family - both he and his father are JJ, so would like this to be an option.
This. Love the name Lucy and John David sounds very old-fashioned (in a good way!) and strong.
I like John David but when I hear JD all I think is juvenile delinquent. I like Arthur, but not the nn Addie, which is also crazy popular for girls. Artie maybe?
What's with the nicknames? DS is a year and a half and barely uses a nickname (though his name does have a tranditional nn).
Charlotte Jane and Amelia Jean are both beautiful. I am not digging those unfeminine nns though. Ew.
I like John David the best and if you are dying to use a nn for John, use Jack. For pete's sake.
All of your girls names are ok. I really like Charlotte and Amelia. Lucy is NMS-- but it is a good name, spelled right and not bad in any way, just not my preference.
I like John David much more than Arthur anything. Arthur is again a fine, properly spelled name, I just don't care for it.
I'd say no to Lucy Elizabeth because of the consecutive "ee" sounds (though I do like the name Lucy). We were initially thinking of naming a girl Charlotte, then Amelia (DH did not like the nickname Charlie), so I like your other options. I like Jane as a middle name.
Arthur John for a boy, because Addie is a girl's name. Otherwise, I would've said Arthur David. Though all three are good options.
What's with Addie as a girls name? I've never met a single female Addie. I work with 3 male Adi/Addie's.
I love these:
1 - Lucy Elizabeth
2 - Charlotte Jane
Boy:
1 - John David
Well, do you work with kids under 5:)? Addison, Adeline, Adelyn, Adele, Adelaide, etc are all trending up lately, and most of those girls go by Addie. If it doesn't bother you by all means go for it, but there is a strong possibility of your son sharing the nn Addie with at least one girl in his class.
I've never heard of Addie as a nn for Arthur, tbh.
I love all of your girl names. I think I like Amelia Jean the best
. I'm not a fan of "Ellie" being a nickname for Lucy. They are the same sound and same number of syllables - why "shorten" it to a totally unrelated and overused nickname? Name her Elizabeth Lucy if you want the nn "Ellie".
I like John David of your boy names. Arthur is nms.

We have 3 Addy's on my street, all girls, all under the age of 10.
DS has another Addie, a girl, in his class.
