best selection of maternity jeans?

I'm not quite to where I need maternity clothes but I will soon be... can't go around with a rubber-banded button fly forever!

I have a hard time finding jeans I really like the fit of, and I'm also in-between lengths: regular (32) looks like I'm waiting for a flood, but longs (34) only really work for me when I wear heels, something I don't anticipate doing much of in the next 6 months. I am reluctant to spend a lot of $ on maternity clothes, but it makes more sense to me to buy one pair of jeans that really fit, even if they are a little pricy, than a bunch of cheap ones that I end up not wanting to wear or torturing myself in heels just so I don't step on them.

Motherhood seems to pretty much carry one length, at least at the stores I've been to. JCPennys had almost nothing in long, let alone my unusual 33" inseam.?Sorry for being so long winded, but... can anybody recommend a good place to try on a larger selection of jeans? Also, what is/was your preference regarding panels - below, roll, secret, full ??

?

TIA!?

Re: best selection of maternity jeans?

  • I *loved* the long and lean maternity jeans from the Gap.  They are cute and super comfortable.  They didn't have a panel; they had a wide elastic band that went under the belly.  Personally, I liked that type of panel the best.

I had a pair of Citizens as well.  If you're looking at status brands, Babystyle has a good selection.  The panel on the Citizens wasn't very comfortable, though, so I couldn't wear them past mid-second tri.  It was a demi panel and I'll never buy demi panel maternity pants again.

I haven't tried the secret fit panel.  I don't think they came out until the end of my pregnancy.

  • I have a pair of the secret fit from motherhood that I like ok... the only problem is the length.  I havent been able to dry them in a while because they shrink so much and are already pretty short to begin with.  Also the fabric on them isn't the same as regular jeans, so people can always tell they're mat pants.

Have you tried the Belly Band?   I'm 33 weeks and still wearing my regular jeans, and work pants, with a belly band, it was the best $16 investment ever!

  • Have you tried Target or Old Navy?  I'm with you on not wanting to blow a lot of money on maternity clothes.  My maternity jeans were from motherhood.  I loved wearing them for about 5 minutes.  They were always falling down, which would cause my underwear to fall down and I could never get them tight enough so that they'd stay up where they belong.  UGH!  (They were full paneled, so maybe that's why??)

     Good Luck!

  • I also loved my gap maternity jeans. I am not sure what kind mine were but i think long & lean.  I wore them the whole pregnancy, they were my only jeans.  I have since bought another pair when I came across an outlet that was discontinuing maternity i stocked up .

  • I'm in a bit of a different situation as I can only wear longs and couldn't find any in the stores. I have two pairs of maternity jeans, one from Gap and one from Old Navy (online). The Gap ones have the elastic band under the belly, the Old Navy have what I think is a full panel. So far (end of second tri) they both stay up fine. It might be worth it for you to buy one nice pair that fits well and is just a shade too long and have a tailor hem them....they can reattach the bottom part so they don't look hemmed, and I don't think it's usually very pricey. Good luck!

  • My gap ones have been my favorite so far too.  Sad thing is I'm starting to grow out of them now Crying

I really dont understand why everyone raves about secret fit.  I hate the way the panel feels and they look so maternity and always fall down, leaving your butt looking saggy.

  • Old Navy and Gap all the way. My length is similar to yours and they were great and their sizing is very generous making you not feel so big. :) ON jeans are maybe $30 too which is nice.
