Pregnant after a Loss

late intro :)

Hi ladies!  I've been lurking/posting a little bit here but I never really introduced myself.  I'm 13 weeks today (yay!) and I have an 11 month old son (2 under 2....here we come! fingers crossed anyway).  I've had 2 miscarriages, one natural and one missed with a d&c.  My pregnancy with my son was amazing and I can't wait to do it all over again.  This pregnancy was very scary early on.  I had some spotting and cramping at 5 weeks on a Saturday so I went to the ER instead of my OB's office.  The ER was stupid and they couldn't do anything except bloodwork (no ultrasound tech on staff that day).  So they did a beta and it was 11,800.  I had an ultrasound done that Monday and another round of bloodwork.  The ultrasound tech (not at my ob's office but at the hospital he delivers at) showed me that there was a sac but no baby...not good, not bad...maybe just too early.  So when I got the results of my 2nd beta (done at my ob's office) they were 13,000.  Not good.  They called and said they weren't doubling like they should and my doctor suspected a blighted ovum but wanted me to come in on Friday for an ultrasound.  I was devastated but not surprised.  I had all but made my peace with the whole thing when I went in for the ultrasound, done by my amazing OB himself.  He told me all about a blighted ovum and what our next steps would be, etc.  He started the ultrasound and got really quiet.  Then he turned the screen so I could see and said "there's your baby and there's his/her beating heart".  He said the betas could have been so different because they were done at different places.  Maybe the ER's machine was calibrated wrong.  Not surprising, it's a pretty crummy hospital.  Anyway, he said the betas didn't matter once you can see something on an ultrasound b/c it's a better tool anyway.  Whatever you say, doc.  I was just convinced it was a miracle.  I had another ultrasound 2 weeks later (8 weeks) and the baby was right on track!  I had an appointment at 11 weeks and they were able to find the HB with the doppler.  I go back in 2 weeks for my 15 week appointment on my 30 bday so hopefully it will be a good appointment.  Sorry for the novel.  I felt like I owed you all a proper intro though.  I loved this board last time and I can't wait to get to know you all this time!
