AW- J's birthday party (PIPs)

We had J's family birthday party this weekend. We had it at my inlaws' house and everything was great! It was outside and the temperature/weather was perfect. There was no drama and it seemed like everyone had a great time. We had a BBQ and kept it low key and easy. I did a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme and pretty much got all my ideas from here and from Pinterest.

Here's the cupcake cake. MIL watched J while I baked and decorated them. The smash cake (the head) was fondant. I peeled it off and covered it in white frosting for the actual smashing. I wanted to do buttercream for the head, but didn't want to end up on cakefail.com or something. I've never worked with fondant, but it wasn't too bad!

12 months of Mr. J. The pictures were a little grainy blown up, but I think it turned out really nice. We're planning on saving it for his high school graduation party (mainly b/c I can't throw it away).

The balloons were a last minute add. No helium shortage for me!

J got so many great gifts, but I'm pretty sure this was his favorite. He was climbing on it before we could get it out of the box.
