Ugh!!! P had a terrible night last night. She started shrieking at like 3am. It didn't last too long and then she was back asleep. About 20 minutes later, more shrieking followed by "Nooo! Nooo! Done! Done! Mamaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" more shrieking. I get up again, and by the time I walk the 5 feet to her room she's quietly asleep. Fine. I pee, go back to bed, try to sleep. 20 minutes later, same thing. Thsi time I just get her & put her in our bed. She slept through it all. I couldn't fall asleep though, and about every hour she yelp something in her sleep.
I really hate this. There's nothing I can do for her, and I hate watching her so upset.
I hope that she will out grow these damnable nightmare/night terror things. THEY SUCK!
(Also, the thermos thing is from Red Dwarf. lol)
Re: Baby nightmares/night terrors can suck my thermos
Awww, poor little baby! I hope the nightmares stay away from her.
DS woke up around 4:30 this morning thrashing around like crazy and crying. He was kicking and punching my H and I in his sleep! We were trying to figure out if it was growing pains, nightmares or something else. I hate that.
Oh and
for the Red Dwarf reference.
We get these too...the first time it happened, DS was about 10 months old. He's a great sleeper, so I flew in there when I heard him so upset because it was so unusual. He was gasping for breath and I scooped him up...he was so hysterical but it was like he was in a trance...not responding to me at all. I didn't realize it was a nightmare...I also thought he was too young for night terrors. It was very scary. (Pedi said it was teething? But I don't think so.)
Now that I've been through it a few times, I no longer go in there because I know he'll settle down on his own in a few minutes. The other night, he was screaming/crying around 4:00 am. I listened outside his door and he was crying/screaming, "Agua! Agua!" It was so sad....but about 3 minutes later, he was quiet. It happened again about 15 minutes later and that was it.
Hope you have a better night tonight!
Yeah, it is so scary when they get in that trance! A had one just three nights ago and we brought him in bed with us which usually calms him right down. But this time he was just hysterical and I could see that his eyes were open but he just wasn't seeing me. I was trying to kind of wake him, saying, "Alexander you are here with Mommy. I'm right here with you." but he couldn't wake up
So sad! So I feel ya...
Does this get worse as they get older? I feel like when I was little (from maybe 3-8 years old?), I would have nightmares a lot. I would drag a sleeping bag and sleep next to my parent's bed if I had one, lol.
Poor Pen! I hope that she has a better night and that she grows out them. Thankfully Kiya has never had them but I couldnt imagine the helpess feelings that you must have as you watch her have the nightmares
lots of hugs.
That sounds heartbreaking for all involved. Hope tonight's dreams are sweet ones.
J has been having them too. The other night I went in his room when he was crying and he hugged me and said "I alright" over and over. Broke my heart.
Last night he was up crying twice. He just wanted a hug then he'd go back to sleep. Poor kids.
We have started to have these sometimes too. It scares me to death.
