So according to Todd Akins, Republican Senate candidate in Missouri, the incidence of women becoming impregnated as a result of rape is rare because if a woman is legitimately raped her body has ways to shut down the whole business of getting pregnant. He claims to have gotten his information from doctors.
Can someone help me figure out what legitimate rape is?
Re: Legitimate Rape
Come on. Don't you know that most rapes are just women walking around naked with signs around their necks saying, "Rape me."? Those aren't legit.
I am totally being sarcastic.
He's a moron. I really REALLY am ashamed to have been born in a state with such ridiculous people. I hope he doesn't get elected.
Side note: he also wants to get rid of school lunches. Really?? STUPID.

I don't want to be hard on you, but this really isn't a question anyone should have to ask for clarification on. Please tell me you don't honestly think there are doctors that could support/prove such a crackpot lie (and that's what it is, a blatant and awful lie; women's vaginas are not roach motels for rape sperm).
I didn't think that rape was a hard thing to define, nor should we be categorizing rape according to degrees of severity/actuality (that is just all kinds of $@1#ed up). All rape is "legitimate."
RAINN defines rape as "forced sexual intercourse, including vaginal, anal, or oral penetration. Penetration may be by a body part or an object." To clarify: "Rape victims may be forced through threats or physical means. In about 8 out of 10 rapes, no weapon is used other than physical force. Anyone may be a victim of rape: women, men or children, straight or gay."
Of course, Akin wouldn't know this. He only knows how dicks work because he is one.
Please don't listen to politicians. They talk out of their asses. Do you honestly know any real doctor that would make up medical facts out of thin air? QUESTION WHAT YOU SEE, HEAR AND WATCH.
I was definitely being sarcastic. I'm not an idiot.
I might b e wrong but pretty sure OP was being sarcastic PP...
That being said, read this for som Monday evening LOLs:

Ha! A friend of mine just posted this on FB
I think The Onion hit the nail on the head with the article
"Pregnant Women Relieved to Learn Her Rape Was Illegitimate"
However, if you think that is bad, check this out:
In an atricle for the NY Times,
The Republican gubernatorial nominee apologized today for an off-the-cuff remark suggesting that some victims of rape should ''relax and enjoy it.''
It makes you wonder.
That honestly made my stomach flip and bile was threatening to release.
I listened to some of this today, and I was incensed.
"Forcible" rape (this word was later removed) would be defined as rape that isn't statutory. They used this word in the first place for worries that PP would call any teen that was seeking an abortion, pregnant by statutory rape, and therefore have the gov't pay for the abortion. There was outrage, PP denied they would do this, and the word "forcible" was removed.
But the other part leads to a logical conclusion that if a pregnancy occurred, it must not have been rape, which is the really stupid and angering part of this.
Really? Can we not lump all people from the same state as having the same idiotic thinking about a subject? Not so sure what you meant about being from Missouri, but not everyone who lives in Missouri agrees with him. Some of us actually think that he's a moron (gasp!) and will never be elected to an office in this state again. He's pretty much ruined any chance of that by opening his mouth and spouting off such a stupid and insensitive comment.

I know that I previously said something negative about Missouri, but I agree with you.
I'm just sad that the thing that gets Missouri "air time" has to be a dim-witted politician saying something like this.
I agree. I hate those types of generalizations. I am a Republican and trust me, not all Republicans feel the same way as this jackhole. Yet all I have hear all day is conservative bashing because of this one dude.

Oh not only that but he also wants to abolish federal student loans, minimum wage and social security! F you Todd Akin!
Mrs. Bio (with FOR SALE items)
Yeah, um, a lot of very sensible people want to abolish those travesties. Just because he's an idiot on rape doesn't mean you can generalize that every other position he holds is also stupid. (I'm in the credit industry, and federal student loans are about to eat this country alive--they are the next big debt bubble, like housing. Its going to be bad, and its largely because the Federal Gov't keeps subsidizing them. And don't get me started on how Minimum Wage laws actually hurt poor people.)

I really don't think I reacted badly, I was just pointing out that you shouldn't generalize everyone from a state into one manner of thinking.
