Poo stains not sunning or bleaching out

DS just recently started having more solid-like poos, and I'm finding the stains to be a LOT harder to get out than when he was EBF.  I've tried bleaching and sunning, but neither worked.  I've also noticed that my nighttime pocket diapers have a slight barnyard stink, but not my AI2s that we use during the day.

I'm guessing Dawn or Rockin' Green or something will take care of the smell, but what about the stains?

  • You could try bleaching the dipes, or stripping with RLR. They should lighten over time regardless of what you do though.

  • For the barnyard I recommend stripping with RLR then start increasing your detergent, the diapers aren't getting clean enough. I always at least rinse out (if not soak in the sink for about 20 min) all of my ON diapers to get most of the pee out before putting them in the wetbag.

For the stains, like PP mentioned they will fade over time. If you really want them gone, while they are still wet, add a little lemon juice to the stains, and sun as usual. This should help. Just make sure to launder again before using.

  • I highly recommend Pacific Sands Oxygen Bleach. You may need to soak your pocket diapers overnight. Synthetic materials tend to retain smells more easily than natural fibers. This is even true of clothes. I have found the Oxygen Bleach to take care of stains and stink with equally great results. I do recommend using it on diaper laundry at least once every two weeks to maintain sanitized, stink-free diapers. Hope that helps!
