tracking everything...

So I drive myself crazy tracking every diaper, every bottle, every nap and sleep on my phone app....I was curious as to when you were planning on stopping keeping track of everything!?

  • If they are gaining weight, you are fine.

My DD2 is still not at birth weight (she was in the NICU for 11 days) so I'm tracking for now.

  • We stopped when DD was back up to birth weight.

However, I still wrote feeding times down after because I constantly forgot.

  • I am still obsessively tracking everything at 3 weeks..i know i could stop, but it makes me feel better for some reason

  • I told myself I would stop when she was at 8 lbs (she was 6lbs 14 oz at birth).  However, I still track because I sometimes forget when she ate last or how long she has been sleeping!  My DH tells me I need to stop but I just can not see to yet.
  • I stopped tracking how often she ate and at what times a while ago. My tracking for other things seems to be tapering off now - this started a few weeks ago. It kind of just happened; I suddenly noticed that I'm not always making sure to remember diaper, nap, and nighttime waking details.

I didn't necessarily keep track before for any particular reason other than to try and predict DD's behavior. It's been so unpredictable since about 6 weeks, though, that I've just given up and go day by day!

  • I still keep track at 10 wks.. OCD, I know!

  • Didn't do it w/ either baby.

  • I still track everything at 7 weeks. It helps on days where I feel like his sleeping or eating has been weird - i can compare to the previous day. It also helps DH and I compare notes when one of us is watching him.

  • For the first week or so I tracked dirty diapers to make sure she was eating enough. Now I only track sleep just so I can more see her patterns.

  • I stopped after our 2 week appointment when I knew he reached his birth weight.  Was tracking eating/diapers.  I am thinking of tracking sleeping now because I want to start working to a regular schedule soon.

  • We track feedings & diapers but not sleeping.  It helps to figure out when she might wake up or need next, especially when we trade "baby duty" between people.

  • I have the Similac Strong Mom's app on my iPhone and still track everything at 10 weeks. I still feel like I have no brain so it helps me see his patterns.

  • I tracked diapers for the first 2 weeks.  I have never tracked sleep as I don't really see the purpose :)

I do still track feedings and I track her weight/height etc.

  • The only things that I track are the times that he eats and for how long, but I only track how long while I'm actually feeding him. This way I know more or less when he will be hungry again (he's 6 weeks old) and if he really ate as much as he normally does (i.e. falls asleep too soon).

Tracking the times that he eats is more of a mental note, so I never write anything down. It lets me know more or less how I need to plan the rest of my day.

  • I stopped the day we left the hospital.
  • Heh, we're still keeping track even though I probably could have stopped a long time ago. I don't have an app or anything, just jot down time/duration/side he fed from in a notebook, and make note of when he has a wet/poopy diaper. My son is EBF on demand so I like to look at the times he naturally feeds at and note any deviations from his usual pattern.

Also, after a certain amount of time (3 months or so maybe?) I kind of want to calculate how many hours since he's been born I've spent nursing. I'm betting I will have spent the equivalent of at least a few days with him attached to the boob. But that's just me!

  • I tracked when I changed his diaper and when he last fed for the first two weeks. I used a little thing called "Itz Been" that we got at BRU. It worked really well. I only stopped because I left it upstairs one day for the entire day and I realized I didn't need it. Now I use it at night in our room as a night light when I am making bottles. There is also a button on there that I press that tracks how long I get to sleep in between feedings at night.

  • I track using the BabyTimer iPad app to help with predicting her behavior and because I love to look at the charts it creates for you. (yes, I'm that nerdy)  She's always had plenty of diapers so I don't track diapers.
  • tracking? what's that? lol, we were terrible of keeping track of every thing and DS was in the NICU for a week.  Especially for the night feedings we would forget to write stuff down the way we were supposed to, I'm sure the nurses hated us for it.  I recently found the piece of paper that they give you from the hospital to track and it's totally empty.

  • I still track wake times, nap times, and how much he eats. I will do it until he has a more predictable schedule or STTN.

  • The only thing i track is bottles and naps just because im a scatter brain.
