Buy a crib now at or just go for a toddler bed??

DD has been sleeping with DH & I since she stopped sleeping in her bassinet at 4 months; she is now 13 months and will be 17+ months when DS arrives.

We have been contemplating buying her a crib now since when DS comes, she can no longer sleep with us. However, being in the 97th percentile for height (32.75" tall) and weight (~28lbs) is making me think twice about the wisdom of getting a crib at this time even if it's a convertible one.

She is a climber: climbs over the couch, tries to climb TV stand, so afraid she would climb out her crib soon seeing as height limit on cribs is 35".

What are your thoughts and recommendations? TIA!!

    I'd prob go right to a toddler bed to avoid the transition of crib to bed.

    I would just get a toddler bed... I'm planning on doing that for my DS who is 12 months old, 30" and quite strong! I just worry that he would be flipping over the side of a crib in no time! Plus I would rather him continue to have the freedom he is used to and be able to crawl/walk over to our bed if he wakes up. I am probably going to transition the toddler bed from our room to the second bedroom at our apartment. Good luck with yours!

    I've been going back and forth on this for a while.  Our daughter will be 26 months when little man comes and we are getting him a new crib.  Our daughter is GREAT with her crib and has never tried to climb out of it even though she climbs everything else in sight!  I mean everything...kitchen table, couch, half wall from the couch, tv stand, dog crates, everything.  I figure we can just convert her crib to a toddler bed or straight to a full size when she's ready.  I also want to try and contain her as long as I can with little man coming.  I know as soon as he cries she will be getting out of a bed to see what's going on and I don't need her wandering her room or trying to get out at 3am :)  It's so hard, go with your gut!  Good luck :)
