The lady had a really bad headache after delivery and went to the ER to find that she had swelling in the brain caused by the epidural. Just wanted to share this because people are always giving me crap about not wanting anything to do with an epidural!

Re: Watching a baby story....
this makes me wonder... I had an induction and two epidurals with my first. I hoped to have an unmedicated birth, but the pitocin was killing me, and DS was just not ready to come (at only 39 weeks). I ended up with a terrible headache around 36 hours or so after giving birth. The anesthesiologist did whatever "tests" they do, and determined it wasn't related to the two epidurals (or the extreme difficulty they had in placing the first one that failed anyway), but a sinus infection. After a week or so of antibiotics, the headache started improving, so I never thought it might be something else. I've had them before, and the pain was similar, but it always seemed really coincidential. I had terrible baby blues, and I think probably some PPD, several rounds of thrush/yeast, and a high needs baby turned spirited toddler.
I still believe that all of these factors are related. We are planning a home birth this time, to hopefully avoid all of the complications and problems. It's just so sad how doctors and the medical community don't see the link.

Ugh, I can't watch that show anymore! Some of the things the doctors and nurses say make me want to slap them. And everytime there is a mom that wants a natural birth, has a midwife, or wants a homebirth/waterbirth, they make it seem like the most painful and difficult labor ever, it's almost like the show is "pro pain med". I finally just stopped watching it, after YEARS of watching almost everyday.
I saw a few episodes of the "One born every minute" show too, and that equally peeved me off.
I had an epidural with my son, and while at the time I LOVED not feeling anything, I totally could have done it without and had a WAY better recovery. Way better. Not to mention I was already prone to migraines and cluster migraines before having a baby, and that got worse afterwards.
