I will be scheduling my 2nd c-section tomorrow and was wondering what is the best time of day if I am able to choose. I know I do not want to be the first one of the day since you have to be there so early in the morning. The fasting part does not bother me. I think I would rather have the sleep. What do you ladies think?
Re: Best time of day to schedule c-section?
Yup, early is better. It's not like you'll sleep a bunch the night before anyway. And it's not going to make you more tired than you already will be from just having the c/s and spinal.
Mine was scheduled for 8 am, delivery actually happened at 10:25 am.
Ask your OB. Some OB's will only do them at certain times during the day, so it would be a moot point.
My OB will ONLY perform scheduled c-sections in the morning. You can choose an 8am, 9am or 10am start time. But that's it.........
I prefer first thing in the morning. Less chance of getting pushed back due to OB's schedule, less time to sit around getting nervous, more nursing staff around when it's time to get up and walk (so you're not pushed off until morning due to lack of nurses around to help).
I don't think the sleep matters much. We had to be up at 4am to make DD's scheduled c/s on time, and spent most of the late afternoon and evening snoozing after our visitors left. You'll have time to get caught up.

as early as possible!!
my first was at 5pm and I hated it because they got me out of bed in the middle of the night etc., etc.
my second was scheduled for 7am but someone needed an emergency csection so we didn't have ours until 830 but we had been there since 530 am and it worked out great. They got me out of bed by late that night. So much better. Better to be the first one there to be honest...because they can backed up etc. anyway.
you sleep afterward anyway
Thats my advice...I hated the afternoon planned csection.
I plan to schedule mine as early as I can. I don't have to worry about emergencies at my hosptial, they are handled in the L&D wing as they have their own 2 ORs. Scheduled c/s are done in the normal ORs of the hospital & done by a doctor from the practice not on call.
I had to be there at 8 for a 10 am c-section and it was perfect. I actually slept really well the night before so I was able to get a good night's sleep, not get up too early, take my dog for a long walk and go have a baby.
