This weekend I was really in need of some crafty type activity I could let C do. DH was available to help him and C was even amenable to sitting down (for once!) but I came up short and couldn't think of anything quickly. I just needed to make dinner, argggh! We have crayons and playdoh and really messy (deeply pigmented) paint that we only use for making cards, etc. So, does anyone have like a ready to go craft box for toddlers you can just go to? (Or maybe a really great one pinned?) If so, can you share what's in it?
Re: Toddler art/craft box?
I've been thinking about this too. When my step-daughter was around 4, we started doing a lot of crafts together. I collect crafty ideas that I see in magazines (Family Fun and the like) which is great to sift through for ideas when nothing comes to mind. I keep a craft box full of things for her to create with, mostly gleaned from yard sales - pipe cleaners, wooden things to paint, paint, glue, glitter, sequins, clothes pins, popsicle sticks, felt, beads, etc. BUT, many of these things won't work for toddlers! So I need to completely rethink the craft box.
Another idea -- I came across some free printable tot books at a website recently. You print the activities, cut them out, and put them into a book so you have activities at the ready. It's a great idea! I just printed one last week and cut them out over the weekend, but haven't tested them with G yet. Here's the website:

No ideas about a craft box specifically, but we were planning on trying out this colored water project with B this weekend (we didn't because of the whole no a/c thing). I'd just use old clothes because I think food dye will stain.
This project about a fall tree seems pretty straight-forward too.
