My partner is pregnant!
This is our fifth cycle TTC and we decided to test "late" to mitigate disappointment, so we waited until her period was two days late and temps remained high, which happened to occur during our camping vacation. I sent her out into the woods with a cup to collect FMU and she brought it back to the tent for testing. Testing in the pre-dawn hours by flashlight while camping among a huge group of your best friends was pretty amazing. When we got a positive Wondfo, I also dipped a CBE digital, because, let's face it, if you're going to run around waving a pee stick in the air, it's just good manners to use one where you can put a cap back on the pee end!
The happy news spread like wildfire and it was an incredible and beautiful experience to share the news with (literally) hundreds of lesbians (we were at a lesbian music festival).
We're almost at six weeks, which is especially poignant b/c we've had two chemical pregnancies (cycles 1 and 2) and we've never made it this far. My partner feels great, if a bit exhausted, and we're looking at an April 15 due date.
How we did it: at home ICI with unknown donor sperm
What we did differently this cycle: my partner gave up wheat gluten (on suspicion of Celiac Disease) and followed "The Fertility Diet" (from a book with a scientific basis). At the time of insemination, I had her do specific exercises to open her cervix and relax it (techniques from Ina May Gaskin's book).
