I know i want a dresser that doubles as a changing table - saves space, etc, and i have seen the ones with Hutches on them, and i think they look nicer, but curious if anyone has had issues with functionality. it seems like as baby got bigger and squirmier the hutch would get in the way.
I know alot say you never even end up using the changing table, but I probably will be, because I have a bad back and leaning over just doesnt work well for me...
here is a pic of one I found on CL
Re: Dresser/ Changing Table with Hutch - PIP
We got furniture sets for both boys that had dresser hutch combos. At first, I toyed with the idea of leaving the top of the hutch off to make it easier to do diaper changes, but eventually decided I might as well put it all together and just see how it goes. We did start doing changes on ours, but for whatever reason it is just as easy to lay the baby on the floor and change them down there.
I don't regret getting the combo hutches, they look really nice and will be used for years by them. I just didn't use them as changing tables for long.
We have only the top shelf in our hutch currently. DH is 6' and I'm 5'10" so any lower shelf would get in our way. We'll add in the second shelf when we're no longer using the dresser as a changer.
Also, the height of the dresser is perfect for me as far as not straining my back having to bend over to change DD. Love that!
