Anyone in Seattle area? Dr. recos please :-)

Wondering if you could recommend your doc/fert clinic? DH and I are moving there in a couple months and want to get set up. Thanks!

Re: Anyone in Seattle area? Dr. recos please :-)

  • I've been really happy with the University of Washington clinic and Dr. Lin. I feel like because the clinic is through the university, the prices are a bit cheaper. The meds are a lot cheaper when you buy them through the UW pharmacy; I'm not quite sure what special deal they have going on to get meds so cheap. (You can check out what I spent in my blog.) The doctors spend a lot of time with you at this clinic and are the ones to perform the ultrasounds. I saw a doctor every time I was there, except when I only had blood work. Their program is a little bit newer, so they don't have some of the history and stats that other clinics have yet, but I still think they're great.

Seattle Reproductive Medicine (SRM) is also a very large clinic with great stats. I went there for awhile, but switched to the UW for cost reasons when we actually had the money to move forward with IVF. I know that some people feel that SRM is more of an impersonal/factory feel. But they are very good at what they do, have nice facilities, and have access to some of those financing programs for IVF.

  • Everything KRoseToes said!  I am also at URC at the UW.  My primary is Dr. Houmard, but I see Dr. Lin a lot and they are pretty great.

The other clinic besides UW and SRM (in Seattle... if you are moving to Bellevue/Redmond there are a couple clinics on that side as well) is pacific northwest fertility.  I think their stats are a little better than SRM, but don't know much more than that.

UW - in udistrict, if you live north (of downtown), pretty easy to get to
SRM - west of Lake Union, also not to bad to get to if you live north
PNW - in capitol/first hill, if you live north, not an ideal drive.

    Good luck with the move!

  • I'm officially coming our of lurker status. Yay, I didn't know Seattle people are on here. I've been seeing Dr. Lin at SRM since April. I agree about feeling like its sort of a factory but I don't think your treatment suffers for it. I always am called when I'm told I will be. I'm never tracking them down for test results.  However, because they are treating tons of people, you really have to be proactive when it comes to asking questions. Hope that helps and welcome to the area!
Me:27 DH:27 IVF#1 Antagonist protocol- 45R, 20F, all arrested except 1 blast, BFN 7/20/12 Houston, we have an egg problem. IVF#2 Luteal Lupron protocol Started stims 8/16/12 ER 8/26/12 41R, 12F, all arrested before ET Not sure where to go from here. My blog: www.mininoves.wordpress.com
  • I've been with SRM for a couple years, Dr. Kennedy, Dr. Lin and Dr. Dudley.  Sadly after IVF#2 was a failure, we have decided to move on.  I think SRM is a great clinic, but MH and I would like to think outside the box a bit before moving on with DE IVF.

We live in the Seattle area, but have decided to try IVF#3 with my OE at ORM (Oregon Reproductive Medicine) in Portland, OR.  We had a very good consultation with Dr. Bankowski, they have a slightly different lab and overall it feels less like a *factory*.

My acupuncturist recommends SRM, UW Clinic and Pacific Northwest fertility in the seattle area. If you need an acupuncturist, yoga, etc...PM me and i'll give you a few names :)

Best of luck to you!!! Welcome to the Seattle area!!!

  • Just to make it clear, SRM and UW clinic are two completely separate places. (SRM used to be the same as UW. But as I understand it, when SRM broke off and became a private infertility clinic, the UW clinic just got a lot smaller and only did minor treatments like IUIs. In the past year, they've added IVF procedures again.) It looks like there is a Dr. Paul Lin at SRM. My doctor at UW is Dr. Kathleen Lin. So that may cause some confusion!

UW does not feel like a factory in the least and I've been very happy with Dr. Kathleen Lin. :)

  • Two Dr. Lins! Lol I'm seeing Dr. Paul Lin. Sorry for the mix up.

  • I'm seeing Dr. Lamb at PNWF, and I really like her.  She was recommended by my OBGYN.  I like that any time I'm in the waiting room, if my doctor or her MA walk by, they at least wave, and usually say hi (calling me by name).  It's just nice to feel that extra personal touch, to know that they recognize me by sight, not just a chart.

While SRM has good success rates, I've heard that they are much bigger and therefore less personal.

I think it's just a matter of personal preference, and you probably can't go wrong with any of the three that seem to be most popular: SRM, PNWF, or UW.

    Good luck!
