We recently went to the Wisconsin Dells and thought I would post some things that we enjoyed and worked for our family and 3 yo.
First off we did not stay at any of the resorts as we were using mileage and none of them we available and it actually worked out fine. We had a hotel with a normal indoor pool and DS was happy with that and didn't have to spend close $100 on a water park that he has no interest in.
We went to the Tommy Bartlett Exploratory which DS enjoyed since there was a lot of hands on activities. As well at the Tommy Bartlett Water show. He loved the boats and tricks they did.
We played mini golf at Pirates Cove which is nice since they have some very easy course for the LOs.
Also at Pirates Cove behind the courses they have a great picnic area and playground which is all free!!
DS' highlight of the trip was the Duck ride which he is still talking about.
We also went to the Circus World Museum in Barboo not far from the Dells. It was great, they have different shows throughout the day which is included in the admission cost including an circus show.
Anyways just thought I would share some great places we went to that my son really enjoyed.
Re: Wisconsin Dells
Aw! Glad you had fun. We LOVE the Dells. We go about once a year to the Wilderness but we do a couple different things to save money:
1. One of our friends' parents has a time share out there at the resort. We check into a motel and use their passes.
2. We find a motel that gives out free Wilderness passes with the stay (they're not pretty but they're clean and they're cheap). During the off season, we end up spending $50 a night! (It's $80 otherwise I think) The rooms also have microwaves and fridges so we bring our own food with one good meal at Paul Bunyan's on the day we leave.
We usually go in a big group so we take turns watching the kids/getting on the slides.
If you can afford a little more money...we stay at Christmas Village Mountain resort. They rent out cottages, cabins, townhomes, villas, and areas where you can hook up your RV's. We rented a 2bd/1bth cottage with living area and a small kitchen. There are many different things you can do without leaving the resort....they have an indoor and outdoor pool,a clubhouse where the kids can hang out and play wii, pool, arcade games, or just watch disney tv. There is also canoeing, mini golf, paddle boats, and grills for cooking out. There is also 2 restaurants on the property. They also have free laundry facilities on the premises. This resort is about 10 minutes from downtown Dells....close enough to fun but far enough that you feel like you're in the country. During the winter there are also different activities. Really recommend this place for family fun!
