I'm assuming most know my pediatrician incident from Friday. Lucas was sick but just fever and runny nose and minimal cough. His boogies were clear. His cough is now very wet and seems more in his chest. He nurses but has to keep unlatching due to stuffed nose. He also coughs and it's very productive I think. He also has little "voice". He hasn't had fever in 24 hours. He is otherwise surprisingly happy and playing. Do I wait it out! To to ER since clearly I am NOT calling my doctor? WWYD?
Re: Bad cough. WWYD?
Anywho. There isn't much they can do for yucky green nose. And not much for a cough either. That is unless it's in his lungs. Have you heard any wheezing? F had a really yucky productive cough for a week a few months ago. I took him in and they said his lungs were clear and couldn't do anything. A week later he still had the cough and got a fever. I took him in and he had an ear infection and yucky lungs. He required a home nebulizer for 2x a day breathing treatments, antibiotic for his ear infection. And then 2 days later when his lungs didn't sound better they started him on steroids. It sucked!!
I never heard any kind of wheezing and I probably wouldn't had taken him back but he got that fever. I'd rather be overly paranoid any day. However unless he is wheezing or having trouble breathing or a really high fever I wouldn't take to the ER. But what about a walk in clinic? I go to walk in clinics for myself all the time. It's nice and a hell of a lot cheaper than an ER. And obviously better than your pedi! GL. I hope little man feels better soon!

Who answers the after hours line? If its nurses or someone other than the doctor you could try that.
This is what they have always told me. I've had to bring LO in twice now after his cough got bad enough and he started wheezing. Now that we have the nebulizer at home, we can take care of it ourselves when he starts to wheeze.
Be careful with sucking out his nose. My doctor told me that if you do it too much, you can actuallly cause swelling inside his nasal passages and make the congestion even worse She suggested that I do it only twice a day, unless his nose was visibly runny and the mucus was coming out very easily.
I really hope he feels better soon. Andy has had something similar twice now and it sucks big time.
BFP #2 - MC Aug 2012 - D&C w/ complications
My dr answers the in call as the calls go to her cell. Weird, I know. I should say former dr.
I spoke to my friend whose dad is an ER doctor and told me he sounds ok. He said to watch for fever again and wheezing. Tomorrow I will begin the search for a new pedi! Thanks ladies.
