Repost: Follice Size and BFP

Ladies please share your experience.

This will be my 4th IUI on Clomid, with Trigger, and progesterone, and I had my follie count at 22mm, 12mm, 12mm (Left) and 14mm, 15mm, 16mm (Right). I was just curious as to what follicle size you were at that resulted in your BFP (if you know).

I know everyone is different , I am just curious.

    Hi there, not sure what your diagnosis is but FWIW Clomid did not work for me (I hope you are having better success!). It was really injectables that did the trick.

    My BFP cycle my follies were much bigger than normal and I took progesterone. I really think the extra "baking time" helped. I had 2 and they were both over 18mm before trigger (I think one of them was 20 or 21 mm).

    Anything over 18 mm is considered mature. After you trigger a few more of your follies will still grow. GL!

    They say anything over 18 is mature, but out of my 3 BFP cycles (2 chemicals + current pregnancy), the follicles were all 21-24 mm at trigger. On the 2 BFN cycles, the follicles were 17-18 at trigger. It may be coincidence, but I tend to think there was something to it for me. Good luck to you!!

    I only had two follies at my final IUI.  They were 17 and 19 mm follies.  I triggered and had that IUI 34 hours later.   I was on injects so, that will make it really different for you being on clomid.   My IUI's yielded the same number of follies but, never were successful for me with the clomid.  I will say that I am AMA and that will make a difference as well.  GL hon.

    I used femara cd 3-7 and Follistim cd 7-9 with my BFP cycle. I only had one measureable follicle at 26 mm. 

     Good luck with your IUI.

    First RE appointment 4/2011
    MFI = Low count + low T = Varicocele surgery 2007 + Clomid 2011
    FFI = Ovarian dysfunction + Abnormal shaped uterus 2011
    IUI#1 & 2= bfn
    Lap + Hysterscopy = all clear
    Last IUI 6/30/12... Femara + Follistim + Pregnyl + Progestrone supp. = BFP
    Beta #1= 58.8 Beta #2 = 1,489.6 Beta #3 = 13,112.3 Beta #4 = 62,727.7 ... No more betas
    2nd u/s = baby & heartbeat @ 6 wks 3 ds

    I only had 1 follicle, size 16 at CD14, on CD 15 I was allowed to do my HCG trigger shot.  And it turned out that 1 follicle was good enough!  Oh, and I was on 50mg clomid and progesterone.  Good luck!
