Whats your secret to not pee 1000x a night??

I'm thinking of buying adult diapers.... I am seriously getting pissed each time I have to wake up to pee.  I stopped counting the last 2 nights after hitting 10.  Its not a tinkle either, its full on emptying the bladder.

Any advice to clog the ole pipes??

  • I stop drinking fluids after 9 pm.  I DO eat ice.  I keep a water bottle near the bed if I get thirsty in the middle of the night.  This has worked since 30 weeks (now 33).

Not sure if it will work, but worth a shot.

  • Don't drink anything close to bedtime.

Also, I find the more comfortable I can get when I first go to bed, then the less I toss & turn. It's when I toss & turn that I wake myself up, & then the second I'm the slightest bit awake, I gotta go pee. I've been sleeping sitting up which cuts out the need to flop over from side to side throughout the night.

I don't sleep a lot in general, usually about 6 hrs total, but I usually get up to pee 1-2 times the most.

  • If I were going to the bathroom that much, I'd cut myself off at 8 or 9 at night. As it is, I'm going 3-6 times a night. Honestly, it's not that bad for me...I'd love to not be peeing so much but I also don't want to give up my water yet.

  • I don't have a solution. I've stopped drinking fluids after 8pm but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I find that like a PP said, the more I toss and turn the more I have to get up to pee. On average, I get up maybe 6-8 times a night. Sometimes I get up just to move around when I get uncomfortable and then go the bathroom while I'm up.

  • I always joke with DH that us having to get up to pee 3-4x a night is our bodies way of preparing us for having a newborn. Seriously though I agree with Bosha..I usually don't get up JUST to pee, it's more like something else wakes me up and then I realize that I have to pee. So making sure that I am comfortable and DH knowing that he has to come into bed "softly and quietly" so that I don't wake up helps a lot.

  • I usually only wake up once or twice a night.

I try not to drink too much water close to when I'm going to bed, and I sleep on the couch now, which has kept me from tossing and turning, which keeps me from noticing that I have to go in the first place.

  • I can't drink anything past 8pm. If I follow this little rule I can make it until 6am and I'm always so excited when I see 6am on the clock! Usually it means I must've slept really well.

  • I also try to drink the majority of my fluids before 8pm-ish. My "trick" is to also go pee once as I start getting ready for bed and then once again right before I lie down (about 10-15min in between of teeth brushing, changing, cleaning my face, etc).

If I wake up, I have to go pee, but if I sleep soundly, I'm ok. Typically I wake up once during the night around 2 or 3, but if I'm lucky, I'll see 6am when I wake up!

  • I stop drinking early, and take a water bottle to bed in case I wake up really thirsty, or with acid in my mouth that I need to wash down.  Try changing positions before you actually get up, it could just be the way you are laying or the way baby is laying on you bladder.  That has been helping me, and cutting my trips to pee in half!

  • I typically stop drinking right now by 9, but should push it back some.  I also don't keep anything near the bed for the midnight thirst.  Definently agree that its my shifting and turning that wakes me and then makes me get up to go potty.  Thanks for the tips ladies!

  • I have no advice, but I'm very sympathetic. On the plus side, last pregnancy, I got much more sleep after delivery than before. It did help a lot with that. I'm hoping for a repeat.
