What do you do with LO in the mornings?

LO and I have the mornings to ourselves since DH takes the first night shift. I've never been a morning person but I've really come to love it. After I change his diaper, I give him a massage, which he loves, then I sing a song usually wheels on the bus or Itsy Bitsy spider. Then we lie there and snuggle while I make sure nothing earthshattering happened on TB, lol. Then I feed him and we start our day. I really love that time.

Anyone else have a nice morning routine?

  • Right now, it's mostly centered around the toddler.  DD hangs out in the high chair (since DS just got his new big-boy booster seat which he is super-pumped about!) and watches him eat breakfast.  But we do have 3 or 4 morning songs that we sing during breakfast that she seems to enjoy just as much as her big brother does :)

This is sweet. We don't have a real special routine but when she wakes me up I pull her into bed and smother her with kisses. Recently she loves to grab my face and try to eat me. It's quite funny and she usually gets laughing pretty good. I hope I can still find a few minutes to cuddle when I go back to work next week.

  • During the work week LO wakes up around 5.  I feed her and then we lay in bed cuddling until I get ready for work.  I am a get-up-with-just-enough-time-to-get-ready kinda gal but now I love getting up an hour early just to get some time with LO.

This is the first weekend since I started work and DH did the 5 shift so I could sleep in, so LO joined me in bed around 6:30 for her nap.

So I guess outer routine is bottle and cuddles.

DS is really into this right now too. His new favorite thing is my nose.

  • You're such a better mom than me! How sweet your mornings are!

LO has been fighting bedtime (not any naps though), so I'm exhausted once I get in bed only to get back up an hour later to nurse. LO still gets up every 3 hours and is awake for the day at 6:30. At that time, I'll nurse him, and he'll talk to me over his breakfast and try to eat my shirt. I'll let him laugh at the ceiling fan and tell me what he dreamt of the night before. By then, I'll have to pee, so I'll put him in his crib with the mobile on and use the restroom. On my way back to my room, I'll uncover his face from the blanket that he has managed to acquire from the other side of the crib that he promptly covered his face with, and I'll go back to bed.

Around 7:30, LO will no longer be able to entertain himself, so DH (who slept all night) will go get him to play with him and go on their morning walk while I sleep until almost 9. Mother.of.the.year.

That doesn't sound bad! You gotta do what you gotta do. You are a fantastic momdon't get down on yourself!

Every morning Colin comes into my bed at 6 when DH gets up for work. We side lay and nurse and he falls back to sleep. I love cuddling him and seeing him so happy and content when we do this. We normally manage to snuggle in bed til 930/10. Then we will get up and turn on the news and talk and laugh... Then slowly make our way downstairs. Nothing big but I cherish our mornings.

  • She wakes up and nurses and then talks/howls at us wildly for about 30mins before big sister wakes up. It cracks us up!

  • Our mornings are not super exciting either. I get her from her crib, smiles, kisses, chatting about our evenings over her diaper change. We go into my bedroom and she lies on the bed while I brush my teeth and things. I nurse her. Then we go downstairs and she plays on her floor mat for a little bit doing tummy time looking into the mirror or watching the ceiling fan. DH and I get our breakfasts and LO moves into the swing to "sit" with us. About 1 hour and 15 minutes after she's woken up she is ready for her morning nap and off we go.

  • Mornings are my favorite time with Emmy. She woke us up this morning by talking in her crib (such a nice change from being woken up by crying). We change her diaper and I nurse her. Then we go into the living room and snuggle on the couch while she talks to me. I wait 30 minutes after nursing her to pump and I put her on the Fisher Price piano mat and she "plays" songs for me while I pump.

  • Our mornings have changed a lot over the past month. L is the happiest in the morning and always wakes up talking and smiling. Before I went back to work at 12 weeks we would talk and smile, then change her and she would go on her playmat while I made her bottle. When I went back to work I would feed her and play as much as I coulD while DH was with her for 4 weeks. Now that DH and I are both back to work its a little more crazy. When she gets up dh does the diaper change and feeds her while I get ready. Then I hang out, talk and play until he is ready to leave. Then it's DC, which she loves and we love the place and people so it's nice to feel that way.

  • LO normally sits in the highchair while I make breakfast or clean bottles. I let him pick which type of oatmeal he wants mommy to eat. Lame I know but I think it's cute! We also watch country music videos on the couch and play.

  • Aww, everyone's morning sounds so lovely:)  Ours isn't anything too snuggly as both our kids usually wake up around the same time, 6.30ish so I nurse the baby while older DS eats his breakfast, and then we all sit around and play/read.  DS2 just loves his brother and anything he does is so interesting to him.  After DH leaves for work then DS2 usually goes back to bed for nap.  Or we rush off for school drop-off with baby in tow (has to wait for nap till we get back)

  • she wakes me up, I put her in her bouncer while she talks to herself and I fix a bottle, sit and chat with her for a few, pick her up and give her bottle, she poops while eating, I change her and then play with her. then she starts to get cranky tired. on weekends, I take her to bed with me and we nap. on weekdays, I shower and get ready for work while she naps.
