For those of you who were induced...

When were you induced? I spent the past 8 months thinking it would be Sept 1st (38 weeks exactly) but found out yesterday that they planned on inducing me Sept 4th since apparently the hospital doesn't do c sections on weekends and Sept 3rd is labor day- oh the irony! I doubt I will even make it that long, but I was really upset when I found out that I will be 38.5 weeks before induction this late in the game! I asked my dr if I could be induced on 8/31 at 37 weeks, 6 days and she said I will need to have an amnio first (8/30). Since I will be 'full term' I was really annoyed that they are going to put me and the babies through that just for the possibility of delivering a day early. What was your experience with this?

    I was induced due to Pre-e, but before that the plan was to induce at 38 weeks exactly, which would have fell on a Friday. No mention of them not doing a c-section on a weekend though. I am sure if I had a planned c-section, they would have scheduled it for the week, but my babies were both head down from about 24 weeks on.

    I was 37 weeks 0 days when I was induced, so it was a week earlier. I never anticipated making it to 38 weeks anyway especially when I got put on bed rest at 33.

    I was induced at 37w3d. We did not do an amnio.

    I was induced at 37w6d. No amnio or anything required. Boys did fine.

    Requiring an amnio when you are over 37 weeks is ridiculous in my opinion.  I was induced at 37 weeks and had big healthy babies.  I don't know what to tell you, though.  You could refuse it but your doc would likely make you wait.  I have no clue though why they would insist you have an amnio at 37w5d when they would induce at 38 weeks without one.  Stupid, stupid, stupid.

    I was induced at 37w and the boys were born at 37w 1d.  Twin B was lagging in growth, my BP was up, and I was spilling protein.  No amnio.  Everyone did great.
