I want one for baby #2. However, i've heard the infant insert is difficult to use and you really can't use the carrier until baby is about 3 months. Any thoughts on this? Has anyone used it from birth? I've heard great things about the Ergo but this concerns me as I want a carrier I can use from birth. Thanks.

you can use the ergo with the infant insert.. (which i think is not worth the extra $25).. i was convinced on the Ergo till i understood the need for an extra infant insert for newborns and how one can feel unsafe with toddlers in tow due to its lower height...
i researched and now am convinced on the Boba 3G carrier... great for front or back positions, no need for infant insert and better height and suits my small 5'1" frame!
The Ergo is one of my favourite pieces of baby gear we have. We used ours from birth with the insert. DD, DH, and myself all loved it then, and we still love it now, albeit without the insert. I can run errands, go for a walk, etc. and not feel DD's weight at all, even though I have occasional back pain due to an old muscle tear.
The newborn insert was easy for us to use. It's made up of two parts: the pillow, and the shell. The pillow holds young, tiny babies up higher, while the shell offers additional neck support. DD needed the pillow longer than the shell, as she was petite, but had great neck strength.
I love the closeness the inward-facing offers, the weight distribution, and the wide age/weight range.
