8 weeks preggers and the bladder...

Ok.... so I'm in my 8-9 week of pregnancy and I've been noticing that I'll get the urge to pee. (sorry tmi)  It's like my bladder is VERY full and when I go, it's barely anything. Is that normal so early in pregnancy? Should I be worried? Suggestions?

  • It could be from the pregnancy, or could be the start of a bladder infection or uti.  If you have the urge to go, but barely need to it is worth having your Dr. check for an infection.

I agree.  I'd lean more towards a UTI if you have the urge but little is coming out.

  • I would get checked out at the doctor. Sounds like a UTI or bladder infection. You shouldn't have this symptom until baby gets bigger to press on your bladder or urethra (making it harder to urinate or retaining urine in the bladder).

  • I am having the same thing and I thought I was alone. I feel like I have to go, and it's not a lot. Except for the middle of the night, it's very full. But I don't have any burning or pain so I didn't think anything was wrong...

I would call to get checked for UTI. You can have one without pain/burning.

  • If you're not having pain when you pee, then there is a SLIM TO NONE chance that it's an infection. I say this because MOST bladder infections come with pain while peeing, but sometimes do not. If there's no pain then the cranberry juice should clear up the infection, IF it is there. Get about a gallon jug of it and drink it over 3-4 days.

One thing that might help is drinking LOTS  of water and cranberry juice. If it is a bladder infection then these will help it go away. If it is just the hormones & growing that's causing it, then you have made sure that nothing is wrong (better safe than sorry). Plus the water and cranberry juice are great for your baby, so BONUS! :)

I'm now in my 12 week and it wasn't an infection. I only drink water and cranberry juice. Sometimes coconut water/milk. But thanks. :]
