Is it worth it?

I would LOVE to have a prenatal massage...but the cheapest around here is 60 bucks, for like 30 minutes! Has anyone had one and can attest to how "relaxed" you felt after one?  I get sleepy just thinking about it. Lol

  • Also check out some of the local colleges. Mine had massage therapy. They charged 15 for an hour.

  • I get regular massages, but my place has a belly cut out. Maybe just call places and make sure they actually have belly tables. Then you don't necessarily have to have a 'prenatal' massage.

  • I go once a month too, thanks to great medical coverage.  It is SO relaxing, last time I actually fell asleep!  I love the tables with the belly hole and the boob cups, so I can lay on my belly and get really comfy!

When I had my second, my massage coverage was maxed out thanks to a car accident earlier that year, so I went to the massage college.  I got into a pregnancy clinic, and for ten weeks, i went once a week, and it only cost $6 a week!  So worth looking into, if you have a college near you!

This is very good advice. The belly cut out pillows are great, b/c you can lay "on your stomach" (if you know what I mean), which is sooooo comfortable. Most places in my area do a prenatal massage by having you lay on your side, which in my opinion sucks. It's not worth it. It's hard for the therapist to really get in there and do a good job when you're on your side. It's awkward and not terribly comfortable. I'd pay the money for a place with a belly pillow.

This.  I got one and I had to lay on my side.  It was nice, but I couldn't completely relax because I was constantly holding myself up to counteract the pressure she was putting on my back  and that just isn't relaxing to me.  It would've been much better if I went to a place that had a belly cut out.  If you decide to get one, check to see if they have this ahead of time.

  • So very worth it! I work for a chiropractor and we have 2 massage therapists. Unfortunately, I'm always working when they are so it's hard for me to schedule myself an appointment. I'm really hoping to make it happen before baby gets here, though!
