Wishful thinking here. does anyone temp after getting up? There is no way my husband will tolerate a beeping thermometer in the bedroom. Yes, I know he will not be popular around here. I get up before him and besides the beeping I think the stress of seeing me temp every day will throw him over the deep end. We have been trying for over a year now with one loss and it is really getting to him. I am using opk's.
Thanks ladies!

Re: Most ridiculous temping question
I used to - temp after getting up. For charting to actually work, you have to temp before getting up - maybe even before SITTING UP in bed...
it shoud be your absolute resting temperature... sorry that your DH doesn't like the beeping.... =
I've got a BBT that beeps REALLY quiet - no clue where I got it, I've had it for awhile...
hope you can find one that works for you both!

Really? REALLY??? REALLLLLLYYYY????? it will throw him off the deep end? Seeing you go cycle after cycle without getting pg and temping will throw him of the deep end?
Yes, getting up first will f*ck your temps up. You just don't do it. Try the mabis, it quietly beeps when you turn it on and quietly beeps a minute later after you've temps.

I'm very sorry for your loss.
I responded about temping in one of the temping posts below. I'll try to find the link for you. It really is important that you do it before getting up--at least for a whole lot of women.
I would approach it with your H like this: temping is only going to help us conceive. if you are discouraged about our troubles ttc, you should support this effort I'm making. And set that alarm anyway.
My hubby has to deal with a ringing cell phone alarm. At 5 AM. yours can deal too.
Ok here is the link to the temping question from earlier today: https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/68116320.aspx
Pay special attention to the poster who talked about putting the thermometer in her mouth immediately (I think it was mdharrison). I do this as well. For me, if I lay in bed for a half hour and don't do anything at all, but I'm awake, my temp will rise because i start breathing faster. So it really needs to be a true resting temp. Good luck!
Yes this, your post got an eye roll from me. Your DH is going to have to give a little more if his ultimate goal is to get you KU. My hhusband has been dealing with it for 3 years.
Also, you could try doing it both ways for a week or so and see what difference it makes for you. I think these things vary a lot from person to person, so it could be worth a try if it's going to be a big issue.

How's he going to handle a crying baby if a little beeping "sends him off of the deep end"?
Is he really that light a sleeper? If your alarm goes off to wake you up in the morning how is that not more intrusive than a tiny BBT beeping 5 seconds later? This doesn't add up to me....

Seems like there are a few issues at hand. If he "doesn't do well with crying babies" how will it work when there is one in your house? I echo PPs - if he wants to have a baby with you, he's going to have to man up and deal with a little beeping. Temping after getting up won't chart accurately. You can get thermometers that don't beep, but I think there are larger issues here. GL!
