These are 2 items I did not get at my shower, and I'm trying to decide if I really need to buy both. Or is it one of those things where a child generally prefers one or the other, so I should try one out and see if she likes it?
My sister has one similar. So they can jump and play with toys. Not sure if this is what you meant anyways with a jumparoo or if you were just looking at the traditional ones that hang from the door frame.
Nope, that's exactly the one I had in mind, actually!
I figured they were so similar that I wouldn't really need both. I just wanted to see if I was missing something. I'm guessing she can kind of just "hang out" in the Jumparoo until her legs get strong enough to stand and jump.
Be careful, though. I have that exact Jumperoo and a very tall kid but his feet barely touch the ground so it is not particularly comfortable for just hanging out in. Be prepared to put a big pillow or something solid underneath but if you have a smaller or younger kid, they sit really deep in that seat, too so playing with the toys isn't easy. The instability makes it hard for a younger baby to keep their heads straight, too. another slightly annoying thing is that the Luvuzoo Jumperoo is so wide, you can't get it through doors without taking one side of it apart so it doesn't really travel well around the house. My son is now 5 months and he spends a lot of hang out time in the exersaucer (which I take from room to room) but only plays in the Jumperoo when he actually wants to jump and has a lot of energy. Our exersaucer has a roomier seat with larger leg holes so, even though he stands more than sits, it's also comfortable for him to sit in.
I don't say this to slam the jumperoo, because my kid does love it, but definitely wouldn't only want it as my only entertainer.
My daughter loved them both. We had a jumparoo and that was around $40.00 and she used it for a couple of months and loved it! It was safe and secure and she liked jumping in it. I was glad I only spent $40.00 since it was only used for a little awhile. She used her exersaucer after seven months and liked being in it but once she turned one she did not want to be in it anymore. She was getting ready to walk and was getting bored with it though she still loved playing with all the toys around the exersaucer. We folded it down so she could play with the toys it had and that turned out great. We saved both these items for our second child since they are still like new. We will have put some new batteries in some of the toys around the exersaucer but other than that it is still good. I would try one and see if she likes it and then stay with whatever she prefers.
We got an exersaucer for a shower gift and then my SIL gave us their out grown Jumparoo. They both take up a ton of space and I don't think both are needed. I would get an exersaucer first because at least with ours there was more to do with that. DS liked playing with the toys when he could use it stand when he was a little bit older too. That being said he did love the jumparoo too!!! But he did spend less time in that. (And it was SUPER cute watching him jump!!! It was a horse and it was so cute!!!)
I went with the Jumperoo. I had no desire for my house to look like a BRU with every possible baby item. He used both at daycare but liked the Jumperoo better. We used a floor pillow under it in the beginning when he would just hang out and play with the toys.
I would go with just a jumperoo. We have a jumperoo which my son LOVES. My MIL bought an exersaucer which he doesn't like because it doesn't do anything when he tries to jump in it.

No. You don't need both.
My mom has an exersaucer while we bought a jumperoo. DS liked the jumperoo far better.
You definitely don't need both. I would go with the Jumperoo because it has the same features as the Exersaucer plus the jumping capability.
