C-sections

Has anyone had a repeat c-section?

I had a c-section with my son because he was breech. He'll be 3 in December and this baby is due in February. It's actually my preference to have a repeat, but I'm really curious as to how the recovery will go. I'm not worried about having to care for my son during the recovery because my fiance and his family will be there to help. My first recovery went well; I was out and about 2 weeks PP. I'm curious to know if people's 2nd recovery was easy/the same/harder than their first if the pregnancies and delivery were healthy.

Re: Has anyone had a repeat c-section?

  • I had a c-section with my first for the same reason and had a repeat for my second. The second pregnancy was just as healthy as the first one. My second baby was not breech. The recovery was a littler slower but I know that has more to do with being in a different hospital with a different doctor in a different state. I'm sure that my recovery would have gone just a well or better then the first one had it been in the same place but different hospitals and doctors do things different. Once I got home everything was the same as before except I had a 2 yr old to take care of. Its good you will have so much help just make sure you use it, and sleep when ever you get a chance. I have never been a nap taker but I did take a few and they helped me get better faster. Good luck and remember to take it easy.

  • My second c/s was a failed vbac.  Neither of my recoveries was difficult, despite hours and hours of labor before the surgeries.  I felt great and didn't take any drugs outside of the hospital.

The only thing I found difficult was not being able to pick up my 1 year old.  However, you probably won't pick up your 3 year old as often as a 1 year old.

  • I've had 2 repeat c-sections and will have my 3rd repeat end of September.

My first was breech. When I got PG with my 2nd, I was all set to VBAC (did NOT want a repeat c) until I found out that the 2nd was breech as well. With my 3rd, I had no choice, and now with my 4th, I, again, have no choice. So, 4 c-sections it is.

My recoveries have all been fantastic. Hope this one is as good........

  • Both of mine have been scheduled.  The first was easy, the second was even easier.

  • My recovery was slightly slower but I labored for 20 hours w/ an attempted VBAC.

  • I have had three.  I think the recovery with the second and the third ones were slightly easier, mostly because I knew what to expect, how to prepare and when to ask for help.
  • My RCS was easier. I even went to the movies 1 week PP.
