Got anything to confess this lovely Friday?

Re: FFFC anyone?

  • DH and I haven't had a sitter to take a date night since May, and I am craving a night out like a drunk craves alcohol. I want to wear something sexy, eat a fancy meal that does not involve bribing my child to be quiet with cheerios and have a drink without having to count the hours 'till our bedtime nursing session. OMG, seriously...a night out sounds so amazing right now!

There is nothing flammable about this!  I think you need to do, for your own sanity at the very least.

My FFC:  I have every intention of calling my mom well before I call MIL to let them know when I go into labor.  They both have to drive quite a ways, and I want my mom to have a head start on getting to the hospital.

Nothing flammable about either of those.

B's mimicking is in full force.  This week he picked up "shoot" from DH and I.  We've been really good about saying shoot instead of sh!t.  However when B says it, it still sounds a lot like sh!t.

  • I totally don't want to breastfeed this new baby.  But my husband is pushing me to bf him for at least 6 weeks "just to be fair" haha. BTW, we arrived at a 7 week compromise by me starting at 0 and him starting at 3 months (which I did with Alexander).  We got it down to 6 weeks...

I just remember feeling so much better once I weaned and I want to feel that way right away this time!  I felt so much more free and well-rested because my husband was doing a bottle feed at night instead of always being me. And I was really sweaty and smelly all the time while I was bfing and then I wasn't and I felt so much like myself again.  Ugh, I don't want to do all of that again! Sad

While I do think BFing is awesome and should be done if it works, but if that won't work for you (i.e making you miserable!) then you shouldn't feel forced.  Can you set the goal for 6 weeks but also allow your DH to do one of the night feeds with a bottle from the very beginning?

OMG, I said the same thing last week! I really just don't want to do it at all, but I probably will out of social guilt. I ended up pumping after 4 weeks and did that unt 5 months. This time, it I do BF again, I will prob stop at 3 months when I return to work. I just coyldn't stand the hassle.

my FFFC: T broke out in a rash. We thought it was poison ivy. Turns out it's an allergic reaction, probably to his soap (we changed soaps and it's getting better now). We havn't told MIl what it was from b/c scaring her into thinking she caused the rash with something she fed him is the only way to get her to stop feeding him things we don't want him to have :/

Yeah, we're totally guilty of doing this with my ILs.  C's milk allergy is probably not as serious as we lead them to believe, but they always bite things with their mouths and then feed it to him. Tongue Tied  I'm not a super germaphobe but sheesh!

  • H and I work together.  I pack lunches everyday and heat them up and usually deliver his to his office.  Today I was really hungry at lunch-so I took the meal I planned to be for him since there was more food-when I brought it to him he said-geez-trying to tell me I need to drop a few lbs?

I just smiled and said-glad to see subtlety isn't lost on you Embarrassed

You are so awesome!!  I would have done the same thing.  That's going to have me giggling the rest of the day.

  • Eta oops I meant to quote jilly!

Omg jilly I feel your pain. With Griff I bf for less than a month. I got mastitis and couldn't wean from the shield and it just got to be way too much for me. I would dread every feeding session. I was so freaking miserable.
This time I'm bf'ing cause I feel like I didn't try hard enough with Griff snd I'm making it up with B. Also, like your DH said, its only fair lol. So I'll try to go st least month. If the physical pain of bf'ing goes away, maybe I can go longer but we'll see.
Oh! And I'm totally sweaty and smelly while bf'ing too! Wth?! Lol
  • Jilly andbabycakes I am kinda on the same boat as you.

I am so freaking sweaty and smelly by the end of the day from BFing. But overall it's going well and I don't really have issues with latch or supply, so I'm still going to BF for now. It's more because I don't want to pay for formula or wash bottles though and not because I love BFing or anything like that.

I BFed Jonny for 6 months and quit because I wanted my boobs back to myself and pumping at work sucked. Or having a date night with DH sucked because I still had to pump.

We'll see how long I last this time. My goal right now is 3 months.

  • Glad to see I'm not the only one feeling iffy about bfing the 2nd time around! You are right though, I can probably just have DH do one of the night feedings from the beginning...if I'm not feeding at that time, but every other time, it shouldn't really do much to my supply (I don't think...)  I just don't want to get a clogged duct again. That was some of the worst pain of my life, and it didn't even turn into mastitis.  I will just see how I feel when it comes closer. If I wasn't so sweaty and smelly when I do it I think I would be all about it...
