I was 13 weeks pregnant on March 29th when I had a D&C because my sweet girl had a cycstic hyrgroma and Turner's Syndrome...the fluid in the cyst consumed her heart. We started TTC in June once I was cleared by the doctor. Almost 3 months later and I'm becoming frustrated. I know 3 months is nothing in the world of TTC but we were lucky enough to get pregnant the last time around right away. Of course it doesn't help when just about all of the women close to me, friends, co-workers, neighbors are either pregnant or just had a baby. I know worrying about doesn't help the situation either but how to you not worry about it. Anyone else had trouble TTC after a D&C? Every month that I get my period is another week of tears...
Thank you for taking the time to read. And my apologies for the book!

Re: Any else have trouble TTC after D&C?
I'm sorry for your loss, and TTCAL is a frustrating process. But 3 months really isn't long enough to signal any type of issue. The fact that you got pregnant in 1 cycle the first time was just chance. And now you have to take your chances again. FWIW, it took us 1 cycle to conceive the first time and 5 cycles the second time. Now we're on take 3 of TTC, cycle 2, waiting to see what happens.
Healthy couples have about a 20% chance of conceiving in each cycle. (Maybe up to 30% if their timing is really perfect.)
My ob/gyn will begin an IF evaluation at the 9 month mark, but 1 year is the common practice.
Yup, it's super frustrating, but no, it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with your fertility.
I can only speak for myself, but I wasn't offended. TTCAL is hella frustrating. I think we all get that.
And my OB reacted as if my 2nd pregnancy happened "right away", but I can promise you those five cycles didn't feel like "right away" to me. So you're probably right about your differing definitions.
ANyway, welcome to the board! Sorry you have to be here.
Hey, thanks. I didn't know it reset to "0" after a mc. I will keep that in mind...though 35 is creeping up on me

I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sure it must have been very difficult feeling like you were in the "safe" zone. I had a d&c just before you on 2/17 and my OBGYN said to wait three cycles (and also said we would get pg right away). We just started trying last cycle and I was a little po'ed it didn't happen "right away." However, now that I'm charting, I realized that we were having sex way before I ovulated last month. We got the timing just right this cycle but I know it is still is not a guarantee.
I feel much more in control of the whole situation now that I'm charting and OPKing. It will give you something to focus your frustration on like I have
Sorry it's taking longer than you expected. We are here to support you.

Fertility interventions are (mostly) designed to get you pregnant, not to prevent a pregnancy loss. So most of the time, docs will not want to try to diagnose someone with an infertility problem if they are cycling regularly and have no evidence of trouble getting pregnant... so that is why the clock resets. Without waiting out the 6-12 months, it's too early to say if there is a fertility problem that the docs could really help with effectively.
FFS. 3 months is not any sort of trouble TTC. It's still on the low side of normal in terms of the average time it takes a couple to conceive.
Start charting your BBT and in the meantime be patient and potentially see a counselor. If getting your period is dissolving you into a sobbing puddle for a week every month, it might be time for some professional help.
Ok thank you. I wish there were more interventions for preventing pregnancy loss!

I'm very sorry for your loss.
TBH, I thought this post was going to be about complications causing you 'trouble' TTC. 3 months is not 'trouble'. Sad to you, disheartening, yes. I remember those days, but it's not trouble. It can take a healthy couple up to a year to conceive, which gives you about 9 months before there's any 'trouble' to be looked at. Trust me- you don't ever want to experience trouble TTC.
If you're not charting chart (Fertility Friend) and read Taking Charge of Your Fertility.
