Get leather ones they will stretch some where the canvas ones don't. Other than that I have no idea. I find that my ballet shoe size varies per company.

I was told that the ballet shoes stretch and they're supposed to be tight and you don't need as much room in the front as you do with say sneakers. So anywhere from 1/2 to a full size up should be fine.
DD was a 7 last September, and I got her a 7.5 and they lasted through the recital in May. She was probably wearing an 8 by then. I'd ask at the store and see what they recommend.
When we went to try them on, my DD was in the same size as normal, 8 and they still had room. The lady told us they stretch and should be snug so we went with the 8s so she will have them all year.
How long has she been in 9s? How long is she typically in a size? My kids seem to have been in the same size for a year, now. I worry that too big would cause blisters on ankle.
