I went for my monthly appointment yesterday and I have only gained 3 pounds and my doctor said I should have gained 10 pounds by now - worried that I am not gaining enough weight...
I definitely wouldn't worry! I'm 16 weeks and still almost 10 pounds under my starting weight! Dr told me don't worry, baby is getting its nutrients just fine unless you're really starving.
I'm actually in the same boat, I am 19 weeks and have only gained 3 pounds. I had my ultrasound yesterday and he is 11 ounces and everything looks good. So i wouldn't worry if i were you!
Thank you so much for posting this. I'm in the same boat as well and was starting to get a little nervous. I'm only half a pound up from pre-pregnancy weight (I check it once a week at the gym). I did lose about 8 pounds in the first tri, so technically I'm up about 9ish pounds overall. I haven't had an appointment with the OB in a while so I haven't had any confirmation that things are still going well. I definitely have a sizable bump, so I wasn't too worried. I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one
Unless you were underweight to begin with it's really nothing to worry about. Everyone gains at different rates and sometimes you'll have big jumps and other months you'll hardly gain anything. It seems most people put on the most weight during 3rd tri anyway.
I was the same way with DS...I only gained about 5 pounds by 20 weeks. Then around 24-28 weeks I gained a lot.
This time around, I've already gained 15-18 pounds at 20 weeks! Every pregnancy is different. As long as your doctor isn't worried, you shouldn't be either!

I've only gained 5 lbs at 19 weeks, and 3 of those pounds have been in the last two weeks. As long as there isn't a reason why you're not gaining weight (still getting sick, not eating regularly, etc) and your doctor isn't too concerned, try not to stress out too much about it. It will happen!
i am also worried about my weigh gain 1st tri i gained 7lbs for my 2nd tri appt i gained 3lbs by time my nxt appt came i lost the 3lbs i gained so now doc is making me gain more weight by december a total of 25-30lbs omg i've been trying to eat a few meals and some snack throughout the day including lots of fresh fruits i have ob appt on monday so i'm hoping i have gained at least 3-4lbs back!
Don't worry. I'm 18weeks and down 4 pounds from my prepregnancy weight. As long as the baby is fine. I did the same thing with DS but then packed on the weight in my 3rd trimester.
I would like to say I'm SO JEALOUS of all you none weight gainers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not claiming to eat the most healthy but I certainly don't just eat junk all day, or even everyday. And here I am up almost 20lbs at 20 weeks! But my doctor hasn't said they are concerned so I'm just going to remind myself; as long as baby girl is healthy I can work on taking it off after she gets here!! I hope you all are feeling well and enjoying your bumps!
Here's to healthy babies not matter how much we have/have not gained!

I'm carrying twins and have only gained 4 lbs. so far.
No one is concerned (CNM or MFM) - the babies are measuring ahead actually and healthy. My CNM and MFM have alwasys told me that I will gain whatever the babies need and not to fixate on a number. My MFM actually said I should gain weight in spurts, just like the baby will have growth spurts - he said not to expect a consistent weight gain throughout pregnancy.
It's so nice to have this support system and I am not the only who is experiencing this problem - I love food but ever since I got pregnant, nothing sounds good. We will have a scan in a week and a half so crossing fingers baby is at a good weight. We heard the heartbeat this week and that sound is always music to my ears!
As long as you didn't start our underweight I don't think it's a problem. Make sure your eating whenever you are hungry and try to get some nutritious foods in. I lost 18 lbs in my first trimester and have only gained 2.5 lbs back. At my appointment on Monday my doctor asked if I was eating frequently and asked if I was still getting sick. Once I told him I was eating all the time and only rarely getting sick he said he isn't worried. He jokingly told me that if in 10 weeks I'm still not gaining weight he may get concearned, but for right now baby is growing great and I am eating well so he isn't concearned.
I am 17 weeks and haven't gained, I lost 10 from pre pregnancy weight. The doctor said that he is not worried, the baby is pulling what it needs from my storage. If it gets later than he said we'll start worrying about weight, but not for like another 5 weeks or so.
Re: 19 weeks pregnant and have only gained 3 pounds
As long as you are eating healthy and enough dont worry about it. I am at 20 weeks and have only gained 5 pounds- and baby is measuring big!

Is your dr worried? If not I wouldn't be worried.
I'm 19 weeks and actually down a pound from my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm overweight so the drs are not concerned.
I know personally my eating habits have changed dramatically since i have an aversion to most foods so I'm eating a lot less than I used to.
