Hi ladies- happy friday. So I had my first ultrasound this week and I was supposed to be 8w0d. However, the baby was measuring small, at 6w3d. The baby has a heartbeat, and the tech said everything is fine, just that the due date has to be pushed back. The results were sent to my doctor but I haven't heard anything yet. I don't know when I ovulated, so it's possible that it was late but I'm not sure. Has anyone had a similar experience with a positive outcome?
Re: baby measuring small on u/s
I haven't had this happen to me personally, but I have heard very similar situations from the other moms on my BMB. If you don't know when you ovulated and implantation can take longer than expected, a week and a half difference is definitely possible.
I did ended up being a week ahead of what I suspected based on my long cycles, so I know that it can vary.
That is extreamly common and no reason to worry at all. Dr's date your pregnancy from the first day of your last period, but very few women ovulate exactly 14 days later. So you frequently measure smaller by 7-10 days and even more when they do the first dating ultrasound.
With each of my previous pg's my due date changed after my first u/s. This time I know for a fact it will again. The Dr. used my LMP to date, but I was temping so I know I O'ed late at cycle day 20.
As long as that little heart is thumping, and you don't have any spotting or cramping or other symptoms you can feel assured everything is just dandy!
Congrats on your LO, and good luck with your pregnancy!
