Hi! I live in PA, its super hot here. I want to buy a carrier for baby and will be using it outside mostly (trips to the zoo, walks, etc.) Which is he best carrier for a hot climate. LO is 5 weeks so Im adffraid of him getting over heated. Thanks!
You could go with a linen ring sling - definitely cool although I don't personally like single shoulder carries for long wearing like going on walks.
Another choice would be a thin wrap - a gauze wrap like the Bali Baby Breeze is the thinnest choice. Or a thin woven like a Vatanai would work particular if you did a single layer carrier (front wrap cross carry with the passes bunched or kangaroo are great for newborns).
I personally think a mei tai is just fine for the heat. It's certainly hot here in NC and I used a babyhawk outside a ton last year when Eleanor was small.
If you want buckles, I'd for something less structured and padded like the Action Baby Carrier or the Pikkolo.
I've got lots more info in my siggy link that might help you choose.
We went to Disney last month and it was HOT (although its very hot here as well) and I used my ring sling the whole time (she did spend some time in the stroller as well) but was worn more. I was concerned about the heat and i bought a woven for that reason but it just took too long to get her in and out when needed the ring sling was much more convenient.
