Not very accurate. I had an u/s at 38 weeks that said he was 7pounds 4 ounces. He was born at 39w3d and he was 6 pounds 14 ounces. Not way off, but still.
LO was estimated to be 7 pounds at 38 weeks, so by 40 he should've been just at 8 pounds. He weighed 8 pounds, 9 oz at birth so the US was under by almost a pound!
I put "Under by a few oz", but my son was under by almost a pound. I'm glad I didn't take them seriously when they told me he was going to be over 10 lbs.
At my 39 weeks appt they estimated 7 lbs 13 oz and they said it could be off by a pound either way. LO was born less than a week later and was 6 lbs 14 oz.
I didn't answer the poll because I didn't get an "official" estimate. My doc said baby would be a normal 6 to 8 pounds though I really had to press her for that info. Baby was actually 9lbs 3oz. Not at all close!
Re: Outside Baby Mommas: How accurate was the US birth weight?
I'm the idiot who put over, but it was actually under.
They estimated 6.5 pounds and she ended up being 7 lb 15.6 oz
