for those that had epi and babies born on outside already

I get the worst migraine every once and a while and between my mastitis and thrush and 10 day check up I forgot to ask dr about it.. but I think its from the epi.  If i drink something cold- its like a brain freeze, and I get a migraine in my eyes- for a few minutes.  its horrid!!!  anyone else?  thoughts?  tips?

I had an epi (baby on the outside now, born the 12th), and had a headache the day after I gave birth, and the nurses got all nervous and had the anesthesiologist come check me out, to which he said I was okay, and that the headache is normal as long as it doesn't persist.. Mine actually has come and gone behind just my right eye, so I followed up with the MD just to make sure he wasn't concerned, and he wasn't.. It wouldn't hurt to give a call to your doc just to make sure it's no biggie, so that they are aware of the headache, and can put your mind at ease :)  Hope that helps!

  • I've had spinal headaches for a few days. I got hit in the spine from my Epi I jumped big time and ended up getting a blood patch. The best way to get rid of it or see of that's what it's from is to lay down. A spinal headache is worse when upright. The conservative treatment is lay down drink as much water as possible to keep up the spinal fluid and drink caffeine. I'm praying it goes away soon.

  • yeah I will follow it up with my dr.. just wondering if its not from all the medications Im taking.. I am on a thyroid pill, advil for the after pains, and migraines, plus the mastitis medications, an iron supplement, and then my prenatal.

  • I had migraines all pregnancy but they went away the day they started the pitocin. I have heard that epidurals can cause migraines (spinal and otherwise).  But so can stress and lack of sleep.

Check the mastitis meds, I assume you are on an antibiotic?  Sometimes those can give me a wicked headache.
