Never thought selling our baby items would be so HARD!

We decided to sell some of our baby items. Mainly ones that take up room and no longer are used. I have someone coming to pick up our Graco Swing and I am SO sad about it. Yes it was not really used but still. I can't part with his clothing though.

Any of you selling or donating items? How does it make you feel?

  • It's all gone -- except for O's 12 month clothes.  I just cleared those into a rubbermaid bin to move the 18 month stuff into his closet.

But, those will be gone soon as well.

I kinda detached my feelings from inanimate objects after I had DS1.  After going effing crazy buying anything and everything that friends and family recommended, and after watching a majority of them go unused or barely used, I realized it was all worthless crap anyways.  So, I kept coming home outfits for the two boys, and Hank's first birthday shirt (which O will wear on Saturday).

But, photos and my boys are the only things I'm convinced I'm ever going to miss.

  • That's really interesting, I'm more sentimental about packing up DD's "stuff" (gear and toys) than I am about her clothes.  Maybe a few of her teeny tiny baby clothes made me sentimental in the beginning, but that's it.  It's probably because I don't buy her a lot of clothes, and I feel like I see her wearing the same thing over and over for a few months, so I'm excited when we're ready to move on to new outfits in the next size.

The only thing that really made me a little sad was packing away her swing.  She practically lived in it, taking all her naps and sleeping it in at night, for the first few months of her life.  As for the rest of the stuff, like the exersaucer and bassinet, I was SO  excited to get that bulky stuff out of the way so I could have my house back to some extent!

  • I'm selling most of the girls gear to our neighbors... and I told them I *might* want to buy some things back at some point so they know to let me know first if they ever want to get rid of them. With the move (hopefully) coming soon, there was no way I could hold on to all of it. And that way, I can get it back if I want it.

  • I kept everything after DD because we knew we wanted another baby.  I'm trying to get rid of all the baby stuff and it is emotional.  I've kept a few outfits from both the kids that I absolutely loved.  It feels so freeing to not have baby stuff in the house anymore, though.
