Let's talk about baby poop

For the past 2 days DD has been gassy and has passed some really funky BMs- greenish & super stringy/mucusy. We're referring to them as alien poops.

 We are EBF, and I haven't added anything unusual to my diet. First thought is milk sensitivity, so I'm cutting that out to see if things improve. Although, if it is a milk sensitivity, why is it just showing up now when she's 9.5 weeks old?

Anyone else have experience with this sort of thing?

    In my experience, green, mucusy poo usually means a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. Are you making sure your LO completely finishes one breast before offering the other? I'd suggest checking out the articles on kellymom.com for more info.

    yeah, I thought that might be it too. I've been trying to make sure she finishes one side, and putting her back on the same side when she unlatches. If it is a foremilk issue, does it take a few days to clear up?

    We had the same thing. Green and stringy poops. I cut out dairy and started to block feed for oversupply. I'd do 2-3 feeds per side to tame the oversupply as best I could. Within a few days the poops were half and half then back to yellow with seeds. I added dairy back and it's not been an issue so that was a big relief. They've been normal again for over a month now. Is your LO sleeping longer at night now? That could be causing the imbalance.

    Unfortunately not, still waking ever 2-3 hours at night! I'll keep trying to get her to fully finish each breast. She falls asleep a lot while nursing, so I'm trying to keep her awake and eating.
