However MIL is pushing for us to get a Gracco lightweight travel system. We said no at first because we have heard too many people say they are no good in the long run as they are big and bulky.
well after looking some more it seems as if our lightrider stroller is very similar almost exact to the stroller that comes in the light travel system.
However the car seat is a 22 not a 30 I am not sure how much that will say us. So opinions needed. 22 or 30 and is a lightweight travel system really lightweight as in comparable to their lightrider stroller?
TIA

Re: Is the lightweight travel system really lightweight? XP
I can't help with the whole travel system cuz I'm not getting one, but here's what I know (from my own research) about the Graco Snugride 22 vs 30 infant car seat. [We're getting a Graco snap n go.]
Originally, we were going with the Snugride 22 carseat. Then I found out that all 22 models except 2 or 3 have REAR adjust straps ("PITA" I was told). The 2 or 3 that have FRONT adjust straps are $10-$20 more expensive. All Snugride 30s or above have FRONT adjust straps.
Also, the Snugride 22 has not been tested for side-impact, where as 30 and above have been. I'm not saying the Snugride 22 car seat is unsafe, it's just that they aren't tested for it.
FWIW, as I said, we're getting the Snugride 30 car seat plus snap n go for the first 6-9 months. We aren't even buying a real stroller when LO is about to grow out of his carseat. By then, we probably will have a better idea of what kind/type/style of stroller we want when he's 6-9 months old, which will be next Spring. We might even be able to score a discounted 2012 stroller model when companies are coming out with their newest 2013 models...
