F/U from FB post..

Someone posted on the FB group about Halloween costumes. Have you guys started thinking about costumes yet?

Since i'm pregnant, I thought an adorable idea to announce the pregnancy would be to put DD in a Thing 1 costume and make a Thing 2 t-shirt for me(Thing 2 on my belly). What do you think about this idea? Corny or cute?

  • I think that's a super cute idea!

I haven't given much thought to Halloween. Plus I doubt DD2 will even leave the stroller when we do go trick or treating. Buuuut I know her big sister will want to see her in a costume as well (and I admit I kind of do, too!). I already have a couple costumes that would fit DD2 (I think my options are between a little chick or Nemo) so I'm going to go with that.

  • I think that's a really cute idea!

I'm not sure what we're going to do for Halloween costumes, whether we'll just dress up DD, or if DH and I will also get costumes for some kind of a theme.  Haven't really thought about it yet.

On a side note, we're that weird family that dresses up their dog for Halloween.  He actually will go up to people with a Pumpkin shaped bucket and "trick or treat" for dog treats.  LOL, DD is going to love that this year, the dog cracks her up!

  • That is a cute idea. I tried to get DS to be Dracula and have Sophia wear his bat costume from when he was 1. He kindly declined. Given the huge age gap between them me thinks I've missed the boat on matching cutesy costumes for them.

Awww don't say that. At least Sophia is little enough that you can let your DS decide and then find something for her that will match his costume and she won't argue with you :)

  • That's adorable!  You should do it!

We are going to dress DS up as Yoshi, I am going to be Princess Toadstool, and DH is going to be Mario.  ;)

  • I love your idea to do Thing 1 and Thing 2 and kinda wish I was preggers so I could do it too!  Ok enough drinking that Kool Aid, we are so not on the baby train this time around.

Anyways, I think I am going to make DD one of those superhero tutu costumes floating around Pintrest.  The Etsy shop sells them for about $75 so I know I can make it cheaper.  And with all the DIY tutus on Pintrest it shouldn't be that hard.  But which superhero is a mystery . . .

Since XH has Alex this year for Halloween, I am not thinking about a costume for him. Next year!

  • Def cute!!  Do it!

As far as for G I have no clue what he will be...

  • super cute idea! do it! i have thought about DD#2's costume. DD#1 will have to pick her own so matching stuff isnt really an option probably. I got DH a banana costume at the end of last year on clearance so i am debating making DD#2 a monkey. but then i also have a strawberry costume from DD#1 so she could be that too. AND i still have a ladybug costume from DD#1 that she didnt want to wear so i have many options.... and plenty of time to decide and change my mind.

I just looked those up online - so cute!! I don't know how I missed that trend. If you don't mind my asking - have you thought you about where you are going to buy the accessories (or even the symbol for the front of the shirt?) I was already planning something superhero-ish and she has a green lantern onesie so I might just use that.

  • You ladies have some great ideas! I love the family costumes, I would try something to make DH Cat in the Hat or something but there is no way that he would do that:P

And follow up to PP about rushing holidays, that is EXACTLY what i'm doing. I am in 104 degree hell and I can't wait until fall gets here. Unfortunately summer lasts until at least mid-September around here..

My goal is to make the shirt logo out of felt, but if that fails, I will just buy a superhero T-shirt or maybe even an iron on decal.  I am thinking that Superman or Batman would be the easiest for me to make . . . As for the accessories, a cape isn't too hard to sew and we have a TON of headbands so I can just jazz one of those up with some bling and a logo I think
