Funny you say this, because someone on my FB (who isn't really the brightest bulb mind you), said that she was glad they were being recalled because she couldn't tell me how many times she would put her son in it on the table/washer/dresser and walk away to do laundry or something and then he would fall out and hit his head...  Really?  You left your son unattended? Well that explains a lot.

Omg that makes my stomach hurt.  What a freaking moron.  Can we instate intelligence tests in hospitals before you take your baby home????

OMG. I'm going to choose to believe that the person who posted that had to be joking - even though it's nothing to joke about.  If not, another example of the morons out there raising our future generations. Scary.

Sadly, knowing this person, I don't think she was joking.

I like that they are finally covering themselves by placing the warning sticker. You always wonder why manufacturers put obvious warnings on certain products... it's because of cases like these.

I agree that common sense is essential when using baby gear, but it sounds like there were issues with the Bumbo beyond people who (foolishly) use them on elevated surfaces.  The recall includes a new safety strap for the Bumbo, which probably wouldn't do much to help a fall from an elevated surface.  This seems like an acknowledgement from the manufacturer that the product, when used as intended, could be safer.  Even on the floor, a baby can tip the Bumbo backwards, fall and hit her head.

  • The idiot who would leave their child unattended will not read a warning label, so it will sadly fall on deaf ears anyway.

Yes, this is true, however with the warning sticker, the company is protecting itself from sue happy idiots.

We just got a Bumbo in the mail yesterday as a late shower gift and my DH goes "THESE JUST GOT RECALLED! WHY WOULD SHE BUY US THIS?!"  I had to explain the recall, the product, stupidity, etc.  It's exhausting explaining everything about baby things to my DH.
